Lucifer deals with his trauma by reverting to a "little head-space" where he feels and acts like he's a little kid again. It helps him temporarily forget about being in the cage and being cast down. Michael is obviously the "daddy" and he loves taking care of his little Lucifer. It reminds him of when Lucifer was truly just a little fledgling.
