Noivern rests in his cave, two children wrapped up in his wings like a blanket. But there was something strange about them. One is a normal Noibat, who had hatched from an egg that a female had laid before she left quite some time ago. The other child is a human. Noivern left his colony for this child almost five years ago, the child now able to walk and make sounds to signify different feelings or needs. Of course, other humans can't understand these noises. This human was given the name Onpa, and she is sleeping peacefully in Noivern's embrace. Onpa has jade green eyes, olive skin, and her hair is short, brown, and messy.

As the sun sets over the horizon, neighboring Pokemon flee into their dens to slumber for the night, but Noivern is just waking up. As the last trace of sunlight fades from the sky, Noivern awakes with a yawn, nuzzling the children to wake them up. He gently comes down from his place on the ceiling, smiling when he sees Noibat and Onpa open their eyes. Onpa groggily rubs her eyes as Noivern places them down on the ground, Noibat stretching out his wings. "What did you wake us up for?" asks Noibat, pouting. Noivern can't help but chuckle.

"It's time to eat, that's why," he replies, watching their faces instantly light up. Noivern smiles, letting them climb onto his back. "Hold on," he says before taking off, starting to look around for fruit. Eventually, he finds a tree with fruit that are untouched by other Pokemon. He smirks and gently glides down, landing on a thick branch. He gently lets Noibat and Onpa down and reaches up to get three whole fruits, one for each of them. The small group happily eats the sweet fruit, juice dripping down their chins.

Minutes pass, and the small group finishes their meal. "Daddy, can we learn how to fly today?" Noibat asks, looking up at Noivern with big, yellow eyes. Noivern suddenly got nervous, knowing that the human child couldn't learn to fly because of her lack of wings.

"I... uh well..." Noivern stumbles over his words, not knowing what to tell little Noibat. Now Onpa was staring up at him, wondering if she could learn how to fly too. "Maybe later," Noivern finally says, causing both Noibat and Onpa to pout.

"You always say that dad!" Noibat exclaims, causing Noivern to sigh, feeling bad about how he keeps holding off flying lessons because of Onpa.

"I know I know... But this time I really mean it, ok? Before the night is done, you will... know how to fly..." Noivern says nervously, wondering if he made the right choice by telling them that tonight would be the night.

"You promise dad?" asks Onpa, looking at Noivern with huge eyes, completely oblivious to the predicament she brings with learning how to fly.

Noibat then butts in. "I wanna fly now daddy! Not later tonight, now!" he whines, flapping his wings in a fit of anger. All of a sudden, Noibat's body picks up off of the branch... he's flying! Noivern is more than surprised by this, while Noibat is beaming with joy. "I-I can fly daddy! I can fly!" he exclaims before flying to a higher branch, landing on his belly. He let out a small chuckle and sat up. "Guess I should work on my landing..."

"Noibat, get back down here!" Noivern yells, worried that Noibat might fall. Noibat pouts and flies back down, landing in Noivern's wings.

"But I flew daddy! Now teach Onpa!" Noibat says, smiling more. Noivern nervously looks down at the wingless, human Onpa, who couldn't even learn how to fly.

"Daddy, how am I gonna learn to fly with no wings?" Onpa asked, flapping her little arms.

"Maybe they just haven't grown yet!" says Noibat, jumping down from Noivern's hold, landing next to Onpa. He holds up her arm and moves it up and down. "Hmm, well you have to get your wings soon!" he said confidently. "Right daddy?"

"R-right..." Noivern replies hesitantly, not wanting to break their little hearts.

The night seems to end as quickly as it came, with Noivern having taught Noibat the basics of flying, while poor little Onpa had to watch from the side lines. Back in the cave, the group is getting ready for bed, Onpa playing around with some dirt, leaves and twigs. Noivern looks down at her, feeling bad that she had to watch Noibat fly happily with him. He walks over to her and wrapps his wings around her, giving her a small lick on the head. Onpa looks up at him with huge eyes, wondering when her wings would come in. Noivern gives her a small smile before wrapping Noibat up in his wings as well, flying up onto the ceiling. "Goodnight Onpa... Goodnight Noibat..." says Noivern, watching as the last beam of moonlight fades from the sky and the sunlight breaks through.

Sometime later in the morning, Noivern wakes up, having come up with an idea last night to help Onpa to fly. He gently comes down from the cave ceiling and places the two children in a bed of leaves, covering them up with leaves as well to both hide them and give them warmth. Noivern walks out of the cave, wincing when the sunlight hits his eyes, walking towards a tree that has a sticky sap coming from it. He smirks as he starts to gather leaves and sticks, sticking them together with the sap. In just a few minutes, Noivern, the determined father, had made his little girl a set of wings! He can't help but smile at his genius as he went back into the cave, brushing the leaves off of the two. He gently rolls Onpa onto her back and sticks the make-shift wings onto her arms, smiling even more. "Your wings grew in Onpa..." he whispers to himself, wrapping Noibat and Onpa back up in his wings and flying back onto the ceiling, drifting back to slumber.
