my hands caressed his brown curls as his green eyes stared blankly at the ceiling. our breathing was heavy, as if the roof of the hotel crushed our lungs.
as i stared at him, i wanted nothing more than to be his friend, his lover, his muse. but i knew it wouldn't end like that. i knew there was nothing i could do to make him stay.
that's the tragedy of it all. whenever you finally get a hold of something you've wanted for so long and it slips through your fingers, you struggle to keep it from falling. you succeed, but you lose yourself in the process.
we blew time, and the end is inevitable. a kiss is just a kiss, a sigh is just a sigh. everything means nothing.
as my tears fall, i thank the boy who drained everything in me.
