One day, on a cool crisp early morning hunt in Riverclan, during a light summer rainstorm under a tree, sat a large, white fluffy Tom named Valleyfrost with large toffee colored eyes and three paws the same color to match his cool and calm mood unlike no other cat's in the Rivercaln.

He sat there, under that tree, No words spoken for as long as he could Remeber. No he wasn't keeping count.
Maybe he was there for a reason.
No he didn't care about his position as a warrior cat, burdened with the demand of being a mentor to a little brat cat with no skills or common sense what-so-ever.
It was dumb, he thought.
Couldn't someone more experienced with being a mentor take care of this cat and watch, train and save her tail from danger INSTEAD of him?
Foxteeth, the Deputy of Riverclan would've done a way better job than he, but no.
Snakeeyes insisted that Valleyfrost do it, even though he knew how much he didn't care.

The young apprentice's name was hawkpaw, and boy did she lack just about EVERYTHING a cat needed to be a cat.
No instincts urging her to attack prey.
She had terrible hearing and never really payed attention to details.
And she Would rather play than do what's best for the clan, like feeding the Elders and guarding the border.

Hawkpaw was an amazing cat, but not so much as talented.
She KNOWS what she's supposed to do, but she doesn't really want to do it, for she had "Better" plans for herself and for the clan.
She always swears to her mentor that one day she'll make sure he's treated like royalty, but he never was too sure of it, but who would be?

So, One day, on a cool crisp early morning hunt in Riverclan, during a light summer rainstorm under a tree, sat a large, white fluffy Tom named Valleyfrost who watched
A young apprentice named Hawkpaw run around an open field with a smile on her face.

Little did he know...

He would soon smile too.
