“Aw, Megsy, Darling, you look absolutely livid. Now, you wouldn’t kill such a worthy Decepticon in such plain view of all your troops, would you? If I recall correctly, they, and you, had a bit of a soft spot for me, now didn’t you?” The femme tilted her helm with a smirk across her faceplate. “You certainly didn’t forget about me, did you?” She walked towards the warlord from where he stood, not fifty feet away, atop his ship, Nemesis.
“Ebony,” he spat her name like poison, which made her twisted grin grow a bit more. “You know you are unwelcome to the Decepticon cause. You cannot be trusted amongst us and I would recommend you leave before you suffer a public execution or worse.”
Ebony gave a soft pout, forcing an innocent gleam into her optics. “Aw, but Megsy! I’ve changed my ways, can’t you see that? I’m such a well-behaved little Decepticon, now! And you certainly can’t deny the insignia on my shoulder plate, can you? They all see it.” Her deep blue optics flicked around the vehicons that stood around Megatron. Body guards, really. But they all knew her, or had heard the stories of her. That much was guaranteed considering the relationship she and Megatron had had in the late days of the war on Cybertron.
They all knew who had proven a worthy ally on the battlefield, slaying their enemies with ease when the time came, who had been seriously involved with their lord.
And who had broken his spark.
Very few knew that she’d been left for dead by Megatron himself when she needed him most. The few rumors that still existed were that she’d disappeared in battle and never been found. But she knew quite well. And she remembered every detail.
She would never forget how vulnerable Megatron had always been to her.
Looking at him now, staring at his red optics, she could tell he still was. And that thought made her grin. She still had him in a chokehold.
Megatron glanced around at the vehicons, at his Lieutenant, his medic, his warriors. They didn’t know the full story, and he wasn’t about to tell them this dangerous femme had gotten the best of him, however short the time had been. And if he executed her in front of them as they watched her die, watched someone who had fought by their sides, and saved plenty of them from Autobots, either capture or death, he would have a potential mutiny on his hands.
It was debatable whether it would even be possible to imprison her with them around. His leadership would be questioned, his soldiers would wonder why one of their best allies was being kept in chains when she could be used to eliminate the Autobots. The odds would tilt further in their favor with her around. But did they really need another ally? The odds were already stacked in favor of the Decepticon cause.
“We do not need another Decepticon wasting resources around here, Ebony,” Megatron told her in a low growl. “Go on ahead and see yourself out. Find someone else to take your resources from. Perhaps the Autobots will be sympathetic to an unwanted castaway. That is, if they don’t execute you.”
Ebony threw her white-painted helm back in a delighted laugh. “Is that so? Do the Autobots have a need for a lethal femme who knows all sorts of Decepticon secrets? Are you certain that’s where you want to send me, Megs . . . ?” She continued closing the gap between them, not one of the vehicons stepping forward to stop her.
She began circling Megatron, sliding a hand over his armor, digits dragging across his metal as she watched him like a predator, watched the way he refused to acknowledge her touch, her too-close presence. He didn’t even look at her until she stood in front of him again, looking up into his red optics with her blue ones. Her optic color was that of an Autobot, but Megatron had known in all his years that she was no Autobot.
And that was why they’d nearly bonded back on Cybertron. Thank Primus it hadn’t occurred. Or maybe that had been part of Ebony’s plan all along. Megatron wasn’t sure. Only that he’d nearly made a mistake. And if he let Ebony on this ship, he’d be making another.
For an instant, Megatron nearly backhanded the femme that stood in front of him, her helm tilted just slightly, staring at him, smiling, like she held the world in her palm. She practically did, really. She burrowed under someone’s, anyone’s, everyone’s defenses until . . .
Megatron stood aside, gesturing for her to enter the ship through ground denta. “Suit yourself, Ebony. Though if you show any signs of treason, I will have you executed on the spot. That is not a statement, that is a promise.” ‘Horrid femme,’ he added silently, glaring at her.
Ebony’s grin only grew at his words. “Good to see you, too, Lord Megatron. I can’t wait to start working with you again.” She slid a digit against his chest plating before stepping away, slipping inside Nemesis. ‘Too easy, you fool. Far too easy.’
