It has been about three weeks since I got home from the hospital. Trav and I have discovered a way to catch me up on everything. We have these meetings every Wednesday and Saturday. He tells me about all these events going on. Whether it's going on with us or local or global. The news helps too.
I have piano and soccer. I don't have a boyfriend but that doesn't surprise me. I feel normal though. I do t feel like this weirdo who has no one and forgot pretty much her whole life. Thank God for someone like Travis. I don't know what I would do without him. Oh ya I do! I'd be lost and not knowing about my own life. Pathetic.
Well, tomorrow I start school. Well everyone starts school. But at least they remember their friends.
I go to Travis' room and knock. I hear a faint sound of music then footsteps.
"Hey sis!" Trav says. He is still in his pajamas. Dork.
"Hey bro!" I reply with the same amount of enthusiasm as he had. I ruffle his hair then ask, "What do you want for breakfast?"
"Um... CHOCOLATE CHIP PANCAKES!" He yells.
"Shhhh Dad's probably still asleep. I'll make your pancakes. Be downstairs in ten!" I tell him as I walk away.
I decide to stop by Dad's room. I carefully open the door. It squeaks a little but oh well. I tiptoe over to him and see he's asleep.
I nudge him with my finger, "Daddy?"
He grumbles and rolls over. I nudge him again. "Daadddyyyyy"
He sits up looking annoyed. "What?"
"Do you want some breakfast?" I ask while I twiddle my thumbs.
"Yes."
"What do you want?"
"Food"
I chuckle, "Well, I kinda figured. What kind of food do you want?"
"For Pete's Sake Kris! Stop with the questions! Make me whatever the heck you want to. JUST SHUT UP!"
"Uh...okay." I mumble and run to the door.
"Wait," he says. I turn around. "Come here." I stumble my way to him and he pulls out a belt. My eyes open with shock as he smacks the belt against my face. I wince in pain. "That'll teach you to not wake me up for such a stupid question! AND FOR KILLING YOUR MOTHER!"
I scurry out of the room and to the kitchen. I start making Travis' pancakes as I hear him come down. I hide the left side of my face from him.
"You're still not done?" He asks as he sits at the bar.
"Nope. I had to go up and talk to dad." I tell him honestly.
"Oh. What was he yelling at?" I freeze and just shrug.
"I honestly don't know Trav."
"Okay."
As I look up to give him pancakes I drop the fork. I try to bend down and get it without turning but fail and quickly turn around hoping he won't see.
"Oh my! Krissy?! What happened to your face?" Well crap. So much for hiding it.
"Oh umm.. dad uh... hitmewiththebelt." I mumble.
"Excuse me?"
I sigh. "Dad uh... hit me with the belt."
"On your face?"
"Yes Trav. On my face."
"That isn't good."
"Yeah. I know."
"Should I call Grandma?"
"Nah. I'm fine."
"You sure?"
"Yes" No but, can't say that to Travis. If only I could just...leave. I would want to take Travis but I don't know. Dad won't probably beat him. Just me. I sigh. I am going to leave soon. Without Travis knowing.
