................................................................

Ever since I was a kid my parents told me; "Never go into the cities, avoid the Mundanes at all cost". I never understood why they wanted me to steer away from anything human, well that is until they chased me with a metal thing called a 'gun'. They were fast and knew the city better than I, it was their home.

I panted as I ran, my feet slamming against rhe cement under them, my lungs burned and my ears rang. My heart raced and slammed against my ribs, adrenaline pumping through my veins. I glanced back and spotted them, they were still right behind me. My feet scrambled for balance as I spun toward a tall building.

Panic flared through out my brain and my blood ran cold as I pushed the door open, some mundanes gasped or shouted as I pushed past them. Questions blocked out thoughts, it was one of the only things I could focus on but as one appear another followed and so on. I spotted stairs and my feet went on auto pilot, dragging me toward them even as my mind protested. Don't expose yourself, Don't.

Where am I? What am I runnning from? Who are these Mundanes? Do they know what I am? Why don't I use my wings? What was I doing before? How did I end up here? Can I fight them? Where am I going? How many floors until they run out of stamina? How many before I run out of stamina? What do I do? Am I going to die? Where is he?
These questions buzzed through my brain, none could be grasp or focused on.

I tried to pay attention yo what was around me but it was impossible when the world was a blur. My head throbbed against my skull just as my heart did to my ribs, I couldn't hear anything anymore except for my heartbeat. How did I end up here?

It was hard to dodge everything that got in the way, at least my adrenaline helped with that. The mundanes were right behind me, they pushed the others out their way and an ear-piercing scream filled my ears as one shot at me. I felt it graze my skin but it didn't stop me. A door! What else can I do? My body slammed against it when it wouldn't budge the first time.

Cold air caused goosebumps to rise and my lungs burned even more as I wheezed for air. The roof....
