Chapter Ten

Luka's POV

I stare at the list, frowning. I couldn't believe that someone would want the supernatural creatures dead. It left me uneasy, knowing that my friends made up about half of this list. I grab a red marker and cross out the Walcott family, since they were already killed. Four murders, Sean, his brother, and their parents. Killed by a professional assassin called The Mute. Weapon of choice, a military tomahawk. Peter Hale killed The Mute after he tried to blow Derek up with a Claymore mine. Then, the night of the party at the lakehouse, another werewolf by the name of Demarco was decapitated outside his car. I cross his name out as well, frowning, thinking about what Scott had said about Demarco.

Flashback:

"I think he was a part of a pack." Scott says, sitting next to me.

"Why would you think that?" I ask.

"'Cause I saw that he had this tatoo... looked kind of like a pack symbol to me." He answers.

"Well, if he was a part of a pack, wouldn't they be looking for him?" I ask. He nods.

"Yeah, that's what Argent said, too." He says. "I just hope his pack doesn't meet the same fate."

End Flashback.

Last night, twenty-three year old Carrie Hudson was killed. I frown as I cross her name off as well.

"It's a dead pool, Dad." I say, setting the list down on his desk. "Someone wants all the supernatural creatures dead."

"And this is only part of it." Scott adds. "The rest still has to be decoded."

"Who found this list?" Dad asks.

"Lydia." Stiles and I answer at the same time.

"How?" Dad asks. Stiles and I exchange looks.

"She wrote it." Stiles says.

"Well, she transcribed it." I say.

"Yeah, without realizing it." Stiles says.

"Banshee?" Dad asks.

"Banshee." Stiles and I say at the same time, nodding.

"Beautiful. Alright, what are these numbers next to the names?" Dad asks.

"We're getting to that." Stiles says.

"First, you need to know that the code was broken with a cipher key." I say.

"You mean like a key word?" Dad asks.

"Actually, it was a name." I say.

"Allison." Scott says.

"Her name broke a third of the list." Stiles says.

"And now we think there's two other cipher keys." Scott says.

"Which will give us the rest of the list." Dad says. "Okay, so how do we get the cipher keys?"

"Same way we got the code." I say.

"Lydia. She's been out at the lake house all weekend trying to find out the other two key words." Scott says.

"You didn't know about Demarco or Carrie, right? And what about these other two names on the list? Uh, Kayleen Bettcher and Elias Town. They werewolves, too?" Dad asks.

"I don't know." Scott says. "But Deaton said that the Nemeton would draw supernatural creatures here."

"Here being Beacon HIlls? Or Beacon County? The population of Beacon Hills is just under 30,000..." Dad says.
