We hugged for who knows how long, but when we let each other go we looked into each others eyes. I found an emotion I was unsure of , or he was good at hiding his feelings. We stayed looking at each others for a couple more minutes until he turned back to his work. When he looked away I felt a sudden coldness in my stomach.
"I...um... am going camping in a few weeks. So don't worry about me. I'm fine." He remarked when we both refocused on our work
"Oh... okay." I said, feeling sad.
"Not sure when I will be back. A few days... weeks... and I might not even go. So..."
I felt more relived when he said that. "Okay, great."
"Yeah." He said, sadly.
We finished packing picnic around 11:30 so we packed it in the car and drove up to the lake. Lake Michigan was about a half hour from my house, so it wasn't much of a pain to get there. We drove into the parking lot, which was almost deserted. We carried the basket and blanket right up to the water, it almost touching us, being a few inches from the tide. We set our blanket down and layed out the food we prepared. I figured I would start a conversation while we ate so the silence wouldn't be awkward. "What did you do when you were gone? You left me, alone... for so long."
"I'm sorry I hurt you... I had some business to take care of with my family."
"Oh," was all I managed to get out then. "Why didn't you tell me you were leaving?"
"Last minute sorta thing." He said in a tone I wasn't sure of.
"I missed you."
"I know," he said. "I missed you too."
I smiled and felt heat in my ears for the second time for that day.
I still felt cold from earlier, but the coldness had spread from my stomach to my chest and thighs. It got to the point were in I started shivering from it.
"You're cold?" asked Quint
"Yes... I am very cold." I said quickly. He scooted over and put his arm around me. I almost instantly warmed up, but wanting him near me still. It was like I had a craving for this guy. A wanting... a needing. I scooted closer to him and put my head on his shoulder. He tensed up some, but relaxed and rubbed my arm for warmth. We ate in that position and sat there looking at the waves, listening to the ambient, solid, paced noise erupting from the lake. I smiled, close to full on grining; I was happy. I was here, listening to a slow pacing heart, looking at the broken shards the ocean called waves, smelling the cologne of Quint, tasting the left-over tuna-mayo sandwich, and feeling the roughness of his leather jacket and the pressure of his breaths. Each time I accounted the presence of anyone of these, a surge of happiness spread through me, making me feel almost whole.
After we ate and sat on the beach, we packed up to go home. I felt cold, but not as cold as before. Before is when we first realsed the hug in the kitchen. I looked out the window almost the whole time going back home. I walked through my front door and had Q on my trail. He needed to get his bag and he wanted to walk me in. I was so tired I went and layed on my bed, all of my clothes from that day still on. I felt a rush of air and his heavy presense just before I drifted off to sleep

And as Wynne drifted off to sleep, Q comes over and kneels next to her bed. He whispers something in her ear, something she will never remember.
"Wynne, no matter what happens, I will stay here, I will stay here with you. I know you need me, and I need you. I will see you tomorrow, Winnie." He smiled, then walked to his car and dissappeared with it. Q is home and sits in his comfy chair. He thinks about all the events that happened that day. He whispers something to himself.
"Another sleepless night," He sighed and turned on the television.
