The first few moments on the ship were...well, a bit tense. Hawke walked on to the ship as if he owned the place, back straight and head held high. Which seemed to be all well and good as they approached, but as soon as 3 feet and a sword hit the actual deck, 5 men, in various levels of intoxication, started to rise to their feet, all eyes soley on them. One of the men, Clarity noticed, would even dwarf the General, and she started to do calculations in her head. How many could she take? How many could Hawke take? She didn't know, and the blasted rocking from the water was going to make traction for her prosthetic difficult.
Hawke seemed much more relaxed, however, and started in with a friendly greeting, "Hello there boys! I'm looking for Captain West, we were supposed to meet and discuss some business..." the men took a couple steps forward, "but I guess he's not back yet. We must've beat him here. Is there a spot we can wait for him?" A couple more steps, now in a loose circle, "Or we can just wait off ship. We'll just settle on the docks out front. They seem pretty comforable..." Suddenly a young boy hopped aboard with a note, handed it to the enormously tall one, and scurried away.
"These is alright, boys. Captain's expectin' 'em." The man to the right of the tall one said, after being passed the note. Everyone relaxed instantly and slid onto whatever was closest, including the floor, as if they'd never gotten up, eager to return to their drink induced fog. "Sorry about that," their escort said, "Can't be too careful while in port. It's easier on the sea, we'd just toss you overboard," He laughed at his own joke, "but here we've got to be more careful. Don't want the city guard to come down on us." He walked towards The Captain's quarters, unlocked it with a key from his belt, and let them into a comfortable room with a couple chairs, a day bed under the right window, a couple book cases, and a desk littered with maps, a compass, and a couple rulers. There was a door that must lead to sleeping quarters, and a fancy looking couch. He then nodded at them, shut, and locked the door behind them.
"Guess they don't want us getting up to any mischief." Hawke blinked one eye at her. She really needed to figure out what that meant...
They heard the General come aboard with her heavy, armored foosteps, but she remained on the deck chatting with one pirate in particular, it seemed. The tall one, Clarity saw when she peaked out the front window. "It's rude to spy." Hawke said then. She immediately straightened and turned to face him. He was sitting in the chair behind the desk with his feet up, and she knew she shouldn't worry because he smiled at her, but she felt this insane urge to defend herself.
Just as she opened her mouth to speak, there was noise on deck. A lot of warm greetings, and she could hear Captain West's voice. There was also some wolf whistling from the crew and a lot of laughing, but at what she couldn't guess. But she did hear a couple innuendos even she couldn't ignore. Captain West's voice got hard as he dismissed them all, and unlocked the door to his room.
The Captain had "let his hair down" she believed was the phrase. And she approved. But it didn't account for all the noise...and then the pretty girl stepped around the Captain into the room. Pretty girl wasn't accurate anymore, though there was no doubt that she was pretty. She was just downright appealing. She looked like a pirate out of a novel Varric would write. Clarity was a bit envious of the soft curves so beautifully accentuated, and her large eyes looked to be something out of a fairy tale. If she was having that reaction, it was no wonder the crew made such a fuss. SHE was the reason for all the noise.
Out of curiosity she turned her head to Hawke. Just to see how he would react. He did give the princess the once over, she couldn't fault him for that, she had done the same thing, but he seemed entirely unaffected by it. Though it did seem to tickle him. He turned his head to Clarity eyes dancing, then said to the Captain, "Looks like you two have been busy."
The Captain tensed at first, then his eyes sparkled as well, and he laughed. "Just trying to keep meself the right sort o' busy." And the two men laughed appreciatively. Knight Commander Beau entered behind them and shut the door, ending the banter.
They all formed a circle around a map of the land that Hawke had found and set up on the desk. Holding each corner of the map flat with a dagger or something fro mthe desk. "Right," Hawke began, standing, "you've given us a lot of information and it's simply a question of what to address first. The General seemed interested in the newcomers to Port Town." Here hawke paused to point at Port Town on the map and look at the General who nodded. "Or there's the Captain's family to the mountains to the North East. That's where my crew can be most helpful. There are seven of us. I can start by sending up reconnaisance to see what they can learn, and we can address that knowledge as a group now, or later. Or my team can handle it entirely on their own and there's no need for you to even go up there." He said all this with his finger on the mountains. "Or, we can retrieve the Princess' brother. Which seems the messiest option, but the one she's itching for. I can be of service there as well. Well, what's the consensus?"
