I remember those eyes so well. Dark, grey and empty. No emotion.
Today was my daughters first year of her third year at hogwarts. It was 2018, and of course the school was updated to fit the year trends. New buildings all along the cliffs and such. But it kept some old traditions as well.
The sorting hat was brought to the front as were the first years. Each student was sorted into the four houses, Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, and my old house, Slytherin.
I knew some of the first years as I knew their parents.
"And a special announcement. This years professor for potions will be Draco Malfoy." She smiled.
For a moment I thought he knew who I was, but I remembered the glamour charm which hid my real identity and instead showed a young red haired woman whose eyes were hazel instead green like mine were.
"And a special announcement. Mister Draco Malfoy will be the professor for Potions as the last prof has retired. So give him a warm welcome." McGonagall spoke again.
The room clapped as did the staff. He walked from the hall doors to the table. His seat was beside mine.
"Another change in the schedules. Misses Rósa will be teaching a demo class of Skills and Abilities as well as her usual class of defence against the dark arts." She clapped as I stood and so did a few others.
I sat down. My stomach turned instantly as I heard this voice.
"Defence Against the Dark Arts? Isn't there a curse in teaching that class?" Draco spoke softly.
I glanced at him. He was handsome...in an older sort of way.
I shrugged. "I've never had an issue with the class."
He chuckled and held out his hand. "I am Draco. Malfoy." He hesitated when he told me his last name.
I shook it hesitantly. "Amira Rósa."
He nodded. "Beautiful name. Suites you."
I nodded and looked ahead. "I assume Scorpius is your son?"
He smiled a bit. "Yes he is."
"And Draya Rósa is your daughter?" He glanced at the Slytherin table.
I nodded. "You know her?"
He chuckled. "She's the fastest flyer on the quidditch team. Who doesn't know her."
I shrugged. "She takes after her father. He played quidditch."
"Oh? Who might he be?" He leaned his head on his one arm and watched me.
I looked at him and away shaking my head. "He isn't important. He doesn't know she exists really."
"Oh? Why not?" He frowned. "If that happened to me I'd want to know. For the sake of her."
I felt the guilt instantly now. "He's across the world. Unreachable to me or her. And he would have freaked out about her."
"Ah. So he was that kind of guy." He nodded and sat back and ate while everyone else ate.
I nodded and ate.
After supper I wandered the halls as students went to their dormitories and the first years were given their tours.
I ended up at the astronomy tower. It was quiet and empty. This tower hasn't been touched since my fifth year, when Dumbledore was killed.
"You come here too?" I heard a familiar voice behind me. I turned and saw him. Alecander Smith.
I ran to him and hugged him letting my charm off. "Alec! I missed you."
He laughed softly and returned the hug. "Hey Sara. I only came because the ministry wants to evaluate the school."
I stepped back and looked up at him. "Adaptation to society?"
He nodded and went and leaned against the rails to outside. I went and sat against the bars.
"He's here Alec..." I mumbled and looked up at him.
His face was expressionless. "I know. I ran into him on my way here. Nyxon and Alice are on their way. Marion still can't be found."
I nodded and looked out to the forest. "I can't keep this up very long. The potion is gonna wear out soon and my abilities to suppress me being in anyone's memories is getting harder. McGonagall can't do much either."
He nodded and sat by me. "You don't need to hide anymore. The ministry has stopped the search for you. They finally understand what happened and what caused it. It wasn't your fault."
I closed my eyes. "I need my glamour charm because of Draco."
He sighed and leaned down and laid his head across my lap. I pet his hair gently. It was always soft and silky.
"Fine. I'll be the real me. But you have to keep him away from me." I mumbled.
"I can try but I must do my job. Nyx and Alice can try too but they need to do their thing too." He yawned and nuzzles my thigh.
No we weren't together. He was my bestfriend forever. He was like my brother. My real brother never was close to me.
I heard the door down the stairs open. I flinched and Alec got up.
"Hello?" I heard an older mans voice. Draco.
I watched the opening from the stairs and soon he emerged and his face drained. He looked like he saw a ghost. I wasn't the red haired and hazel eyed girl anymore. I was the black hair and green eyed one I always was.
"Sarafina?" He stumbles a bit backing up.
Alec stood and I stood behind him. "Yes. It's me.." I closed my eyes. "Can we go Alec?"
He nodded and headed in his direction. I followed holding to his arm as we passed Draco.
Draco caught my elbow and held me there. "What's happening? Why won't you talk to me?"
I pulled hard trying to get away from his grasp. "Let go."
Alec turned and grabbed his wrist. "Let her go. You know exactly why." He growled.
He let me go and looked at Alec. "No. I don't."
I pulled my sleeve up to the long visible scar along my forearm.
He was silent a second. "I had no choice...he was going to kill you Sara."
"No. He wasn't. Let's go Alec." I headed down the stairs and Alec followed.
"It was to save you!" Draco yelled as we left.
