Chapter Nine

"Make me your Aphrodite

Make me your only."

I felt like I just solved the cure for cancer.

I shut my laptop and ran my hands thoroughly through my tangled mess of hair, letting out a long sigh. I had just completed 3 assignments for speech class-who would think that it was even possible to do a speech class online? And honestly, when I signed up for this, I was anticipating it to be an easy class, but it was proving to be time-consuming and kind of difficult.

My stomach was growling with hunger, so I pulled my chair back and, feeling slightly dazed from being in the same spot for a few hours, I trudged to the door. The time was around 12:30, so Harry and my mum were most likely asleep.

Yes, Harry was here. He came by an hour or so after I got home from school; my mum came home with him. Luckily, all I had to do was eat dinner with them, before they went off in their own little world, and I went off with mine. I had the logical excuse of my assignments as something to back me up-that was the only good thing about them.

However, the bad thing about completing the assignments was that this meant I was able to go on that trip with Harry this weekend.

Which sucked.

I was so screwed. I had no idea what was going to happen, but I had a clear idea of it-and it made me feel sick. So like before, I tried to avoid the inevitable and did everything I could not to think about it.

I walked out to the kitchen, my eyes instantly aimed for the fridge. The house was quiet; not even the TV was on. I noticed it was slightly raining from outside-just a gentle rain, not a downpour. The sound of the soft patter was actually kind of relaxing.

I started making a sandwich, one of my favorite late-night snacks, and was laying a pile of chips when I finally noticed him sitting at the kitchen table.

In the dark.

I flinched, letting out a startled gasp when I saw his emerald eyes gazing at me. That iPad from earlier was sitting in front of him, the bright screen softly illuminating half of his face, casting shadows to linger everywhere else, defining even more of his facial features.

However, he chuckled at my reaction, setting the iPad down.

"You're really oblivious to your surroundings." Harry noted aloud, crossing his arms over his chest.

"What're you doing out here?" I asked in a loud whisper, my heart thudding uncomfortably in my chest.

"I had some business to take care of." He replied. "But it's done now." He clicked a button near the top of the iPad and the light shut off, leaving Harry alone in the darkness. I wasted no time in turning on the kitchen light, relieved to see that Harry hadn't moved from his spot.

"Why are you up?" Harry asked, his amusement vanishing when he checked the time on his watch-yes he was wearing a watch. He scowled a little upon noticing the time. "It's very late."

"I know it is. I had to finish up some work, too." I replied, stifling a roll of my eyes as I hastily grabbed my plate and set it on the counter.

"Sit down with me." Harry proposed in a way that basically hinted I couldn't refuse.

"I don't feel like sitting down." I declined casually, though I really just didn't want to be anywhere near him.

His jaw clenched. "Come sit down."
