Chapter Ten
I've seen the world
Done it all
Had my cake now
Diamonds, brilliant
There weren't many people are the movie theater, that I could see as Harry searched for a parking space. Unlike my mum, who liked to find the closest parking space possible, he sought out for the farthest space, until he pulled into a spot where no other cars were.
"I hate it when people bump my doors," He explained briefly as he put the car in break. I went to leave the car, ready to just get this over with, but he grabbed onto my hand and forced me to look at him.
"Hey, I want you to enjoy this." He said quietly, nodding his head a little. "Alright?" His thumb was gently rubbing massages on my knuckle, as if to try and ease my nerves.
How could I possibly enjoy myself?
Just about an hour ago, I learned that my mum was using a man all over again. I thought she had changed-I thought she really did actually like Harry.
But now I knew that she didn't like Harry; she liked the power he had. And as soon as she got what she wanted, she was probably going to drop Harry like she did with all the other men.
To be honest, it disgusted me. I knew Harry had a whole darker side to him, a side my mum wasn't aware of. But that meant that Harry wasn't the only person doing something wrong here; my mum was doing something morally wrong also.
I guess it was safe to think, on the optimistic side of life, that Harry was doing somewhat good to my mum. If not for Harry, my relationship with my mum would've still been pretty distant, like before. I didn't know what he did-probably since he wanted to get to me, he brought my attention to my mum, which in turn caused her to actually acknowledge me again.
We got out of the car, and I was surprised when Harry was instantly at my side, his hand grabbing mine firmly. The air was a bit chilly, something I did not expect, and I had just started rubbing my forearm for heat from friction when Harry started taking off his long, dark trench coat.
"Wear this," He murmured huskily, draping the oversized coat over my shoulders. The sleeves hung limply over my arms; the jacket was much too big for me, but honestly, the warmth it gave me was heavenly. I felt his hands push the jacket further over me, covering me and shielding me from the bitter cold, and he nodded a bit when I was fully covered. And once like before, his found mine, and he began leading me to the front doors. We didn't have to wait in line, since Harry purchased his tickets on some app on his phone, and we were walking inside when I let out a sigh of relief. The air felt so much warmer inside than on the outside, but the jacket still felt rather comfy on me.
"We have about 30 minutes before the movie starts," Harry told me as we came to a stop. The arcade was to the left, the distant sound of blaring games and music hitting us, along with a hockey table towards the end. To our right were the bathrooms, which seemed deserted at the moment. "Do you need a snack or anything?" He stared down at me for confirmation.
I personally wasn't a fan of popcorn, whether it was from the movie theater or not, but I saw a sign that said they had those large pretzels. I wondered if they were any good...
"Can I get a pretzel?" I asked.
"Sure," Harry replied, tugging on my hand to lead me to the line. The line was short, and Harry's tall figure loomed over almost everyone's in the room. I always thought he was tall, but this literally confirmed my observations as I noticed that he was taller than most of the men here as well.
