The summer of 1963 had been deemed the most exciting in recent American history as the First Family was awaiting the arrival of the first baby born in the White House since Grover Cleveland's daughter in 1893.

The country and the Kennedy's were on top of the world. The country was moving along beautifully, President Kennedy was about to sign the Nuclear Test Ban Treaty, the Civil Rights movement was making progress and the economy was booming. What a joyous time to celebrate the arrival of a precious baby.

Mrs. Kennedy had been resting in Hyannis Port for the majority of her pregnancy as she didn't want to take any unnecessary risks with this baby. The Kennedy marriage was reaching a place of wholesome completeness with the news of Jackie's pregnancy and she and the President were excited to see what the future held of them.
