Chapter Twenty - Two

School the next day was a bore. I only had English lit with Dec first lesson, and then we never saw each other since I sat so far away from him and the work was so overloaded. I had free periods the rest of the day, and I wanted to find Arthur, just to ask him about Mia and if it was him who had said something to her and given her my number. So I walked around on my own, assuming Declan and Gabi were in the music rooms. I managed to get round to the science block and found Arthur inside a physics classroom, alone with a textbook.

"What are you doing?" I asked pushing the door open.

"Extra physics revision" He replied, noting something down into his book.

"Oh... okay" I couldn't be bothered to ask why.

"Why are you here?" He asked.

"Looking for you. Can I talk to you? Like now" I said, taking the seat beside him.

"Uh yeah sure" he replied, closing his books and turning on his chair to face me.

"Can you answer these honestly, please" I said.

"Okay" he said nodding his head.

"Have you spoken to Mia about me? Or like ever mentioned me and Declan to her?" I said.

There was a silence.

"Well yeah I've mentioned you like once... she asked though!" He said.

"Okay and would you have any idea how she had my phone number?" I was starting to sound bitchy now, but I just wanted confirmation.

He nodded "...I gave it to her" he said, ashamed.

"Okay thanks Arthur. I didn't mean to be so demanding I just wanted to know cause Mia phoned me up and said a bunch of stuff and I just didn't know how she would have my number and stuff" I said.

"I'm really sorry... I hope this doesn't change the way you think of me Y/n... you are a really good friend and I do appreciate you... I... I just I don't know it's just Mia, she's just so... forceful but amazingly beautiful at the same time."
I nodded as I looked at him, he looked kinda dazed out at the thought of her. He snapped back.

"Sorry." He looked at me with puppy eyes and I said it was fine and left him back to his physics.

I sat and ate my lunch on my own by some heaters in the same block as the music rooms, you're not allowed to eat in the music rooms, so I planned to go their after my food.

So there I was, in the corner, on my phone and eating my sandwiches that I had bought from the canteen beforehand. I heard girls giggling, the same as the phone call come closer until they were around the corner.

"Ah! Y/n" Mia said bending down, showing a lot of cleavage and holding
my chin like I was a baby.

"You know, this girl..." she let go of my face and turned back around to her friends.

"... is an absolute queen at drama, you work with uh little Arthur and Florian don't you? Your performances are always perfect. I'm so jel!" She giggled. She was so patronising I had the urge to smack her.

"Ahaha thanks Mia! But you are too! And your friend. Your performances are always so deep and uh meaningful" I lied.

"Thanks babe! Anyway... we were just talking about a party we might plan for Halloween. I mean it's only three weeks away we've got to start planning right!" She said, excitedly.

"Yeah! Sounds great!" I kinda hoped I was invited and I don't know why.

"Well we'll give you an invite when we make them, bring your friends oh and Dec!" I fucking hated it when she called him that.
