*Maya POV*
Once I came home, I dropped my shopping bags and ate my food. A day of shopping with my best friend turned into shit real quick. How could she act that way towards me? I thought.
Tonight, I know that all my thoughts will be gone. I have work, and it is going to be a Saturday night. XCLUSIVE is always the poppin' on Saturday nights. Celebs, money, fine men, and great music.
A knock on my door interrupted my thoughts about tonight. I opened the door without looking in the peep hole. It was my sister, Miracle. I don't know what the hell she is doing here. I know it showed on my face.
"Maya... I can't come in?" Miracle said.
Without saying another word, I moved out the way so she could come in. I walked back to my couch, and continued to eat my Chik'fil'a.
"I haven't seen or heard from you since last Thanksgiving. That was six months ago, so what's up?" I said with attitude in my voice, as I ate my food.
First Bri's bullshit, and now this.
"I'm sorry about that. It was so much drama and you didn't deserve that."

FLASHBACK (OMNISCIENT POV)The Lawton family all sat at the Thanksgiving table, and said their prayer. Everyone dug in and started having small talk and conversation about random things.
It did not take long before drama starts to take place. Maya and Miracle's mother, Yolanda, looks over at her daughter in disgust and disappointment.
Every time she looks or thinks about Maya she gets disappointed. She knows that her daughter was intelligent, beautiful, and talented. Yolanda believed in her heart that Maya threw it all away as soon as she stepped in XCLUSIVE. She could've gone to any college, but the fact that she chose that "career field" is beyond her.
"Why did you do it?" Yolanda blurts out, looking dead in Maya's face.
At this moment Maya realized that the long 6 hour drive from Atlanta, GA to Orlando, FL to visit her family was not worth it. She was slowly starting to regret it.
"Ma... Please now is not the ti-" Miracle spoke before being interrupted.
"Let her speak! She is more than capable. She can prance her ass on that stage, and degrade her self and this family. Then, she can speak for her fucking self!" Yolanda yelled banging her fists against the table.
Everyone at the dinner table— their cousins, grandma, grandpa, Miracle, and Yolanda's husband focused their attention on Maya.
"Degrade myself? I'm making money just like everyone in this bitch! Who are you to judge me?" Maya scoffed.
"Maya Janae Lawton, don't disrespect your mom like that." Ed stepped in.
"Your sister is 20 years old in college majoring in Psychology. You could've went anywhere! You decided to be a whore!"
Miracle just put her head down. She couldn't find it in her to defend her older sister, because her mom was right. Maya could've went anywhere, but instead she chose the path that she chose.
Maya looked over at her mom.. The woman who gave birth to her... who disowned her as soon as she found out her daughter was going to be a stripper. She stood up, and walked out.
As soon as the front door slammed, Lillian looked over at her daughter. "You know you're wrong for that Yolanda. I always raised you not to judge anyone!" Lillian said as she shook her head in disappointment.
~"I know that I didn't deserve it. You sat there, and didn't say shit to defend me." Maya said as she continued to eat her food.
"You know I tried to Maya" Miracle to her sister that obviously was not trying to hear shit that she had to say.
"You didn't try hard enough." Maya scoffed, and bit into her chicken sandwich.
"Ma was right!" Miracle blurted out.
"Right for judging and embarrassing me on Thanksgiving day? Yeah ok."
"It wasn't my place to stand up for you. And deep down, you know she's right! You had straight A's and let it all go down the drain."
"Get out."
Miracle stood up fuming. She walked over to the front door, swung it open, and walked out.
