"Baby!" Maya called out to Chris. She was making breakfast for their family, and trying to make lunch for the kids.
"Yes?!" Chris yelled back from the living room as he sat, and tried to get their precious little boy, Jaylen Brown, ready for school. He was now 4 years old, turning 5 in a couple of weeks.
"Daddy! I don't wanna go to school. I wanna play 2k!" Jaylen said as he made it more harder and harder for Chris to get him dressed.
"Listen... lil' man, how about after school we go get some ice cream and play 2K all day and night?" Chris said, trying to calm Jaylen down.
"Yes! Yes! Yes!" Jaylen said jumping up and down.
Spoiled ass nigga, Chris thought to himself as he started laughing.
"I need you to come here!" Maya finally called out to Chris again.
Chris finished what he was doing, grabbed Jaylen's backpack and picked him up. When he made his way to the kitchen, he said, "Yes?"
"Hey pumpkin butt! Give me a kiss!" Maya said to Jaylen.
Chris leaned in to kiss Maya, not knowing she was talking to Jaylen. Jaylen hurried and stole the kiss away from Chris, and started laughing.
"Wow. That's crazy." Chris said to Jaylen.
"You can get one too baby." Maya said to Chris as she leaned in, and kissed him.
An 8 year old, Royalty came running down the stairs with her backpack on and an all pink dress on.
"You look beautiful baby." Maya looked up, and admired her beautiful step daughter.
"Thanks mommy!" Royalty said back to Maya.
"For you, and for you." Maya said as she handed Jaylen and Royalty their lunch boxes.
"Thanks mama." Both of them said in unison.
After a few more minutes, breakfast was finished and the family sat down, and prepared to eat. After they were done eating, Chris took Jaylen and Royalty to school. Maya said home, and began to clean up a bit. She went through her phone to find a picture of her and Miracle. A tear drop escaped her eye as she sat there a little sad that her sister passed away, 5 years ago...
It was a couple of days after her wedding when she found out that her sister was shot multiple times, and burnt to pieces. She sighed, and wiped her tears, "Life must go on." Maya said, sadly.
She now had Chris, Jaylen, and Royalty. Her family. That's all she needed.
