TOI Chapter 3: How the Earth's End Came to Be

You'd think that the alien race came to our planet for one of our many unique resources. Maybe even us. But that was not the case. Instead, they wanted something we never even knew of.

As they had stated, they wanted a rare element to their planet called Zantium.

Zantium had not been heard of in our planet.

According to them, Zantium was a living element. It contained limitless energy that could cut through space in Nano-seconds. Faster even, than the speed of light.

This element lived inside us. A tiny speck that sparked life into our bodies. When our outer shells died that speck returned to the Earth where it's been for billions of years.

All of this defied our laws of science, and we didn't believe it one bit.

The Zantium, had supposedly formed a shell around the core. The energy and heat blasted from the core's side were concentrated through the element and causing the convection currents in the mantle.

If the 'Zantium' hadn't been shelling the core, we would've all been dead. Our Earth turning to lava and ashes as the heat of the core consumed the Earth whole.

That was their theory and what they believed. Of course, some believed them.

I remember that day. Nice and clear.

We were sitting in a private room in the Pentagon, transmitting a signal to the alien ship outside our atmosphere. Our screen would show us our contact.

If this wasn't serious, I would've laughed at how much resemblance there was to Halo with these guys.

The armor they wore was extremely similar, wasn't it to the deep dark color it was. As I looked closer, the armor seemed to be alive. Rippling with the monster's movements and almost... Breathing!

This astounded everyone in the room. The armor must have been made of the Zantium they spoke of.

"It is what you believe," spoke the unearthly creature. "My armor is made of our Zantium."

His voice sounded raspy and strained, almost snake-like.

"Can you tell us again how you managed to speak our language?" asked the President sitting at the head of the table.

He was leaning back in his seat, feet propped up on the table with his arms behind his head. I had to guard the idiot, not something I'd like to say out loud. He wouldn't have won the election if the other candidates hadn't 'mysteriously' died.

I was 102% sure this guy sent them to get killed. I hope he doesn't screw this up and makes the human race extinct. He already had twenty-seven countries against him. Why not add the whole alien race to that equation?
