At first glance, the duo may have seemed almost innocent seemingly just going through a rough time together.
It might have been that he was just curious to ask his old science teacher the best way to sleep for eternity.
And it might have been that losing his best friend hurt so much because they were more than just best friends.
But the duo was far from innocent. After seeing the horror of the bombing and escaping the arms of death, they only had each other.
Did she know how much pain he felt? Did he know how much it hurt her to see him cry?
It seemed as if the only comfort either of them had was when they connected in the most intimate way possible. They could feel the bodily heat on their bare skin. He would caress her skin and it would calm him. She would place kisses all over his face and it would calm him.
Sometimes, after Apple had left and Thomas was still breathless, he would feel guilty about what he had just done with the girl, like he had betrayed his dead best friend who so convieniently happened to also be his boyfriend. But Luke was dead now and the only person who understood the same pain was Apple.
She had lost Luke too.
He was her best friend too.
But the only way to momentarily stop the hurt and mute the pain was the most intimate way possible. The way where the soft, gentle kisses made their minds drift away from Luke.
