I felt as though it had been weeks since I last saw daylight, the warm touch of the sun on my skin, or the moist feeling of cool mist. I missed all the small things, the wind, the sky, the clouds. I missed my friends who were always there for me, encouraging me to fight. That's what they would want me to do, but it was hopeless. There was no way out of this hole.
"Hey!", one of my many guards growled as I snapped at his hands. "You selfish brat! If you don't cooperate, you won't get food.", he spat. I whined, and obeyed, watching him take the needle, and plunge it into my side. I yelped in pain, writhing on the cold, mossy floor of my prison. The guard laughed evily, and slammed the huge iron door. I shivered, not wanting to know what he had put into me. The old man, Terrance, as I had started calling him, muttered something. I crawled over to my bed,(A pile of furs) and drifted into a painful sleep.
As I woke, I felt a sharp jab at my face, making me growl."Princess, if you do not wake, you will never escape!", Terrance whispers loudly. I jumped to my paws, eager to listen. Terrance motions with his callused hand, above us. "A hole appeared last night. Apparently, the rain made the ceiling cave in, hence me being free.", he whispered. I nod, wanting to know more. "If you fly up there, you can get into the sky to see where you are", he finished. I nodded, nuzzling him, cause this is the last time I'll get to see him.
I lifted my wings, lifted up, and flew the heck out of there. When I was high enough, I instantly recognised where I was. I was about two miles from my grandfather's "Grand Palace" as he calls it. I shifted, and smiled. "Finally, I'm going home!"
