"Ew why do you smell like that?" Erin asked as Lyric walked into the kitchen. Lyric folded her arms around her chest and eyed her.

Her curly hair was everywhere, eyes were baggy, skin was pale and lips were chapped. Lyric opened her mouth to say something but didn't have the energy to.

Instead, she grabbed a soda out of the fridge. "Leave your sister alone, she's going through it." Naomi said holding Daijah in her arms and holding Elijah's hand in the other.

"She's been going through it for two weeks now... I'm not surprised that they didn't work out though." Erin shrugged scrolling through her phone.

Naomi slapped Erin upside her head. "Apologize." Erin frowned and rubbed her head. When she looked up Lyric was already upstairs.

"You should be ashamed of yourself, karma is a bitch and one day when you get your heart broken she won't be here for you." Erin frowned.

Lyric sat on her bed and cut the tv on. She turned to Martin and laid back enjoying the silence in her dirty ass  room. No-one  bothered to come in here and she liked it that way.

She heard her phone vibrate so she grabbed it and frowned when she saw an invite to a Forth Of July pool party at Austin's house.  She didn't leave the house unless she was  playing basketball in the backyard.

Marisol texted her and she texted back  slowly.

Marisol: "Hey Chica. You coming to Austin's party right? I miss you."

- "Nope."

Lyric sat her phone beside her and stared at the tv.

"You and Marisol are pretty serious  huh?" Maceon asked Austin. Austin shrugged.  "I guess, she's cool but she's kind of crazy... She has a big ass family."

O'shea  laughed. "Haven't  you heard the phrase 'packed like mexicans'?  how many siblings she got? ten?" O'shea guessed. Austin nodded.

"Yea and her mom's pregnant  with twins." "Damn, I'm glad my moms didnt have that many." Maceon laughed. O'shea dribbled the basketball and bit his lip.

"How's your sister doing man?" O'shea asked.  Maceon shrugged. "She's  fine." He lied. "Oh yea?" "Hell  yea." Maceon said. O'shea nodded slowly. "Cool."

"Why?" O'shea shrugged. "I was just asking." "No, you miss her." Austin grinned. Maceon raised a brow. O'shea looked at them both. "Yea maybe I do."

The boys started laughing. "What's  so funny?" O'shea asked. "We knew yo ass was gonna give in eventually." Austin said. "It was a mistake.. I was mad and I just broke up with her."

O'shea  shrugged.  "What are you gonna do about it?" Maceon asked. "Imma get her back." The boys looked at eachother. "How you gonn do that?"

O'shea  shrugged. "I don't know yet but I am, I fucked up." "Damn right." O'shea scratched the back  of his neck.  "Do you know if she's coming to that party tonight?"

"Probably not." "Well can you get her there? Please?" O'shea asked. Maceon sucked his teeth. "Look, im not gonna go through all that if you end up breaking up with her again."

"I'm not." "She don't know that, she's stubborn as hell." Austin pitched in. "Right but if you do it again I'm not gonna help you." "I'm not." O'shea promised.

"Aight I'll try to get her to come." Maceon held his hand out  and O'shea sighed taking his wallet out.

That Night.

"You can't make me go Mace." Lyric shrugged watching Maceon clean her room. "You're going and I already talked to Mama about it and she thinks you  can get out of the house."

"But I don't want to, why can't y'all just leave me alone?" She asked. "We don't  have  to." Maceon walked into her closet  and picked an outfit out for her. "What are you doing?" She asked.

"Picking an outfit... I don't want something too revealing because I don't like how half of these niggas be looking  at  you." Maceon smiled but Lyric didn't.

"Okay then." He sat an outfit down on her bed and picked up some Versace heels. "Im only going to a party, I don't need to wear those heels." Lyric said.

Maceon shrugged.  "You gotta look your best, let O'shea know what he's missing right?" Lyric frowned. "He's gonna be there?" She asked. Maceon looked up at her.

"Yea." Lyric shook her head. "I'm not going then." "Yes you are, you really gonna let him ruin your life?" He asked. Lyric was silent.

"Sis, I've never seen you  like this. The old you wouldn't be stressing over no nigga." "He wasn't just some nigga Maceon.. he's my first love." Maceon sat on the edge of the bed.

"I know how you feel..and trust me you'll be fine-" "Everybody's telling me that it'll be fine but do I seem fine to y'all? Look at me." Maceon was silent.

"I look like shit and you know it." "Do you feel better than you did before?" "Well yea." "There you go, take it one day at a time and you'll get over it. Shit like this makes you stronger in the future."

Lyric nodded.  "Okay." "So you'll go? I don't have to force you?" Lyric shrugged a little. "I guess." "Cool, get up and get in the shower.. and make sure you wash your hair."

Maceon scrunched his nose up and Lyric rolled her eyes before she got ready.

She straightened her hair tonight and watched it hit her back. She finally looked like herself.  Erin stepped inside of her room and took a good look at her.

"You look cute." Erin complimented. Lyric looked at her outfit in the mirror. "Thanks." She put her heels on and grabbed her bag. "...I wanted to apologize." Erin said.

Lyric looked at her. Erin kept her eyes on the floor. Lyric walked up to her and held her chin up high. "It's fine." Erin nodded.  Lyric let her go and smiled.

"I know you don't like me.. and wish I was never born." Lyric frowned. "Erin when I say that I'm only playing with you, I was actually glad when I found out that I was gonna have a baby sister."

"You were?" Lyric nodded. "Yea, believe it or not I was excited." Erin smiled. "How about I take you to get your hair and nails done tomorrow and maybe we can do a little shopping? Some sister-sister time."

"Okay, but Mama might make you take Ej and Dominick." "Then I'll take them too." Erin nodded. "Okay I'll tell them."

She started running towards the door when she turned  back  around and hugged Lyric. "I love you."

"I love you more." She ran out of the room and Naomi looked back at her then at Lyric. "You look nice." Lyric smiled. "Thanks Mama."

"You finally decided  to go." "Maceon talked me into it." "Good." She fixed Lyric's hair and smiled. "You go show him what he's missing okay?" Lyric smiled.
