Alex felt defeated and embarrassed at the same time, not only for having feelings for another male but for hoping Aiden felt the same. He decided to return to the same antique book store. Whether or not he should bring his phone crossed his mind frequently. Alex did take his phone in case of emergencies but with the vibe of the bookcases and comfy chairs, he didn't want to be interrupted so he put his phone on silent. Around this time the snow is soft, the sun is never really out by mid november. The air felt abandoned by oxygen. The sound around him made it feel like if he closed his eyes, nothing would exist. He kept his eyes closed till he heard the familiar ring of the bookstore door. He stopped in his tracks, opened his eyes and sighed. Alex didn't know if he should happy that he's back at his favourite spot to relax or upset that it brought the broken feelings of 'love at first sight'.
The first step into the building, Alex instantly felt relief. He was in his comfort zone and he felt the power to finish any book he desired. He sat down near a fake fireplace and proceeded to read the same book he started a week before. The electricity of the fireplace had warmed Alex to a point of drowsiness. His eyes slipped closed and he slept till one of the employees had to wake him up for closing time. "Excuse me sir but our shop closes at 7:00 pm and it's currently 7:02." Alex awoke and looked at the lady confused. Surely it wasn't that time already, He had arrived at store at noon, did he sleep the day away? His thoughts were interrupted by the woman asking if he was okay. "Yeah.. yeah sorry. I'm okay, I just didn't think the time would go by so quickly." Alex stood up and thanked the lady for waking him up before going out the door. It was pitch black outside, the street was lit up by a single street light. Alex reached to check his phone and noticed he had gotten a text from a number he didn't realise. After unlocking his device his heart instantly started beating madly. The text read 'Hey Alex! I'm so sorry I haven't been in touch. So many things came up at once I just wanted to get them all out of the way so I could talk to you. I know it's super last minute but do you want to meet up? Text me whenever you can, -Aiden." Alex checked the time the text was sent. 'Three hours ago?!' Alex thought. He instantly pressed call without thinking. He desperately wanted to see Aiden again. "Hello?" the other end cooed. Alex didn't know what to say. He didn't plan a conversation. The only noise he could make was his heavy breathing. "Alex? Are you okay?" Aiden asked. "Y-yeah.. I'm fine." Alex could tell Aiden was confused at his stuttering. "Well.. do you want to meet up? We cou-" Alex eagerly said yes. Aiden laughed. "Want to meet outside the bookstore?" "Sure, I actually just left the bookstore." Alex could tell Aiden was smiling. "I'll see you there soon."
