Taeri walks down the busy street with her hands in her pockets. She sighs in frustration, "I can't believe that girl." She stops in the back of a group of people. They all say 'oh' and 'aw' at the sound of a keyboard. A hat sits in the front of the keyboard, a girl her face covered plays an upbeat melody. Taeri feels a bitter memory awaken. At the end of the song, some people drop money into the hat, the people begin to walk away with a few standing nearby.
"What are you doing?" Taeri steps forward. The girl looks at Taeri as she picks the hat up, "Making money. Care to drop a ten?" She lifts the hat to her. "Why are you even trying? Don't you have everything in the world already, Hwamin? " Taeri pushes the hat away.
"Good joke. I'm making money so I can actually have a roof over my head." Hwamin pockets the cash as she begins the pack away her items. Taeri is confused for a second not hearing any sarcasm in her voice, "What do you mean? Don't you have a home." She crosses her arms. "If I try knocking, I'll only get kicked out again." She picks up her keyboard and begins walking.
"Stop lying and tell me the truth." Taeri walks next to her.
"I'm not lying. Now please stop following me, I have to find a hotel." Hwamin doesn't bother looking at her. Taeri stays a few meters behind her, obviously not doing as she asked. Hwamin suddenly stops outside a large building, it wasn't a hotel, for sure. The large building had a small sign in the front, in big blue print it read 'Big Hit Entertainment'. The word entertainment sticks in Taeri's head. Is Hwamin going to try out to be a trainee or something? After a few minutes of staring, Hwamin begins walking again, she makes frequent stops on random streets playing for strangers and getting money from them. She picks out a bright yellow sheet of paper and opens the folded sheet. Taeri manages to get a quick look, it was an advertisement to try to become a trainee. Hwamin scrumbles the paper and tosses it away. Taeri picks the paper back up, "Why would you throw this away?" She opens it back up. "I don't need it. You wanna try or something?" She begins counting the amount in her hat.
"I could try. Why don't you want to? You've wanted to be an idol since you listened to your first song." She forces it back into her hands. Hwamin tosses it into the trash, "I don't want to anymore, simple." She shrugs. Taeri smacks the back of her head. "Are you dumb!? You can't just quit like that! You had a plan, you've composed millions of songs! You have talent and you're just dumb enough to throw that all away!" She yells drawing attention towards them.
"You don't understand, Tae. I can't become an idol. You would know." Hwamin sighs picking her items back up again. Taeri scoffs, "I do know. But I also know you're no quitter, so you're going to this audition." They begin walking again. "Taeri I can't." Hwamin turns and faces her. She takes a big breath, "Music is just a waste of my time." She whispers. Her eyes gloss over a bit. Taeri walks up and slaps her across the face, hard, "You're lying. You're a liar. Take that back." Taeri's hands ball into fists. "Take that back!" People give them weird looks as they walk past. "I said take it back!" Hwamin stays silent. "You love music! You promised yourself that'd you'd never quit! You said you would audition! Hwamin, you promised! So take that back! Take that back!" She yells. "I-I'm sorry." Hwamin whispers. "I'm sorry I'm such a disappointment." She look up at Taeri, "I'm sorry." She repeats again and again.
