Seventeen years ago the world was in the beginnings of an apocalypse, at least, that's how civilians like to explain it. Liam knew that wasn't exactly like that. Sometimes ignorance is bliss when it come to things like this, he tells himself. He had heard and told the story over one hundred times. It was, in fact, Seventeen years ago. One year before Liam was born. The super villian Incognito was loose and reeking havoc all over the world. This specific super villain was strong. Maybe too strong. No one really new his motive, some people just liked watching the world burn. And, oh, Incognito did. His manipulative influence caused riots everywhere, even in small towns barley anyone knew. Finally the Super Heroes Ice Swan and Eclipse, though Liam knew them as Mom and Dad, had enough. They took Incognito down and threw him in the most secure jail in the world, located in Moscow Russia.

To make sure nothing like this ever happened again and that if it did the world would be ready. A council of Heroes made a school to train kids ages 16-19 with powers how to manage them and how to use them for the greater good. They placed said school in Andorra, a small country between spain and france and they put it deep in the forest where no mortal would find it. They named this school Hexia Academy for Heroes and Sidekicks.

Starting tomorrow Liam would be starting school there. And he was dreading it. He could never live up to people's expectations of him. Sure, he had developed his power but he could never be as strong as his parents.

It was around eight-thirty and the blue eyed boy was pointing out every flaw he could find on himself. Starting with the scars right under his chest from top surgery. And then his chub. He needed to touch up the dark roots that contrasted with his dyed blue hair. Then, there was that scar on his right cheek. Liam hated it. He got it when he was about five, playing out in the woods in his backyard. He tripped and took a tumble down the hill and on the way his face cut a piece of broken glass or something of the sort, resulting in that dreaded scar.

"Liam, sweetpea. Your dad and I want to talk to you." A soft, sweet knock comes from the door. A lanky woman with greying blonde hair and blue-grey eyes walks into the restroom.

"Alright mom, I'll be right out!" Liam says taking one final, hateful, look at himself and pulls his shirt back on and walking out to the kitchen where his father sat along with his younger sister who was drawing at the table. The little girl's eyes light up as she saw her big brother and she hopped up from her seat, shoving a piece of paper in his face.

"It's you! Fighting villains!" She smiles. Liam chuckles, ruffling the girls long brown hair.

"Thanks Anna. I'll have to get a frame for it." He takes the paper and sets it back on the table to grab later. Their father clears his throat from the other end of the round tabe.

"Liam," He starts, folding the news paper and walking over to where his wife is standing, "It's a big day tomorrow."

"As I've been told for a month now." Liam whispers.

"And we decided it's time we show you the liar." His mom squeals excitedly. Liams eyes go so wide they seem to pop out of his skull.

"The lair? Like the liar?"

"That's the one, kiddo." His dad chuckles and wraps his arm around the smaller boy. He leads Liam down a flight of stairs that leads to a steel door that has a small screen next to it that has the outline of a hand on it. His dad nudges him. Hesitantly, the blue haired boy pressed his hand up to the scanner. It beeps and the small light on the door blinks green, opening slowly. He looks over at his father, aghast.

"Go on in!" His father giggled like a happy teenage girl. Liam nods and takes a step into the liar. It was filled with books, weapons and lots of tech equipment. In one corner sat two glass cases that held superhero suits.

"Are these the suits?!" Liam asks running over to them.

"You know it. And soon you'll have your own." His father smiled.

"We both know I'll never be as good as you or mom." The boy shrugged.

"Hey, kiddo. You don't know that. You've never had any training. Who knows? You might even surpass us!"

"Yeah," he nods, "You're right. Thanks dad."

"No problem, pal. Try and get some rest, okay? You have a --"

"Big day tomorrow," Liam finished with is dad, "Will do. I'll see you in the morning." He hugs his dad and walks back up the stairs. He sighs for a moment before heading to his room.

Liam flops down on his bed and takes out his ear-piercings and sets them on the bedside table next to a book, his phone, and a glass of water. The boy buries himself in the covers and looks up at the cheesey plastic glow in the dark stars on the ceiling. He eyes the glass of water and slowly moves his finger up and towards him, the water floating in the air and following the movement of his finger.

"Big day." Liam sighs.
