Chapter 2

"Ok so it's the second chapter am I gonna be in it now?" I asked. I was starting to get to the point where I didn't even care if I wasn't the main character at all. I just needed to be a character in a story and then I could... My thoughts trailed off.

"Please. I can be like this Austin guys best friend." I smiled politely and waited for an answer.

"Hmm. No," The voice said again.

"Okay okay! It doesn't have to be in this chapter?"

She didn't respond.

I sighed and crossed my arms "Fine just continue with your story"

Austin  sat at his desk and looked around. He watched Cole Adams talk with his group of friends. Cole used to he Austin's best friend before Cole left him for popularity.

"Okay class today we have a new student," Mrs. Winters said interrupting Austin's thoughts.

"Oh! Can I be the the new student please?" I interrupted her again but it was worth a shot.

"No, this character is a girl name Ophelia." The voice said
"Ew! Please don't make this a gross love story,"

"Of course not,"

Mrs. Winters came to the front of the room followed by a short, brown-haired girl "Her name is Ophelia," Mrs Winters said moving over so the attention would be on the new girl. "Go on tell us about yourself."

Ophelia didn't say much, only her name, that she was from Canada, and that she liked to read in write.

Mrs. Winters accepted that as a good answer and told her to sit next to Austin.

After five minutes of Winters explaining their assignment for the day, work on a science project for the science fair, the class started to pair up with their friends Austin tuned to Ophelia

"Do you maybe wanna be my partner?" He asked shyly. He never worked with anyone unless he had to, even then his partner would ignore him.

Ophelia smiled and nodded. "Sure I would love too!"

He was ecstatic that she agreed to be his partner but nervous as well. 'What if she hates something he does, what if she picks on him.' The thoughts swirled around in his mind 'What if he got so attached and Ophelia left' He shook his head softy, erasing those thoughts from his mind.

Ophelia just smiled at him "I was thinking we can do like a volcano thing.. it's not unique but it's fun"
Austin smiled and nods "sure I can work on a sketch for it"

She nodded and got out a notebook and a pencil "I'll write out a list of what we need"

Austin was now at his house with Ophelia, they were both sitting on the floor making a small volcano.

Austin looked up at her "I apologize again for my older brother's teasing,"

Jackson had came in and teased Austin, saying that Ophelia was his little girlfriend.

Ophelia laughed softly "It's okay, I have an older brother of my own."

Austin smiled softly and relaxed a bit "so you understand the whole teasing thing?"

She chuckled softly, "unfortunately and he's a freshman so he thinks he knows everything" she rolled her eyes a bit

Austin laughed lightly and they talked and worked until it started to get dark out

Ophelia stood up and packed up her stuff "I should get going" She started heading to the door before

Austin stopped her "Ill walk with you. It's dark out" he smiled softly standing up walking out with her.

They walked to her house and before Ophelia could open the door a taller boy that looked around Austin's age opened the door quickly and stood in the door way crossing his arms "Who are you?" He glared slightly looking at the stranger next to his little sister.

Austin gulped a bit realizing that was Ophelia's brother "I-I'm Austin... Ophelia and I were just working on a science project and I didn't want her to walk home alone in the dark.." he trailed off.

Ophelia sighed softly "Noah be nice.." she mumbled
Noah ignored her and pulled his sister into the house "yah thanks for bringing her home. Next time bring her home before dark" and with that he shut the door in Austin's face.
