OUR DESPAIR

Prologue

They came to us without warning. Our everyday lives on earth changed in a matter of hours. All these years we were being watched by another alien race, and we didn't even know it.

They call themselves The Peace Keepers, (apparently of the universe). We found out we're not the first race to discover The Peace Keepers. We also found out that entire species' have been wiped out because of them..

"It's just a game" they said. A game that's been played the same way every time with every race. They're given four years to prove themselves to be a nonviolent race; a race that is overall good. And within those four years, no living soul is aloud to commit an act of violence or crime of any kind, or their entire planet will be blown out of existence; along with their race. This would mean, in order to save their race, they would have to rely on their criminals, their outlaws, and their fugitives to prevent their extinction.

And now it's humanity's turn.

The Peace Keepers have given the human race five days to kill any people of their race that they feel can not handle those next four years without committing a crime...

These people are also known as the crazy and insane. They said the humans could kill up to 200 of their own. And during those long-lasting, unbearable five days, humanity had taken away the lives of seven. No more, no less. Seven. All the other criminals would be released out of prison for the next four years on Earth. The Peace Keepers told them to consider the game like a restart button for humanity. It didn't matter what you had done before those five days, you would start over. Everyone would become equal. No one would have a higher power than the other.

"You see, the trick to this game, in order to continue you're existence for the next four years, is to become one gigantic race. Become equal. No one higher ranking than the other. Everyone will be the same. Everyone will be average." One of The Peace Keepers told us in the message, when it was delivered.

During those five days, people didn't talk about the message. They didn't talk about the next four years of their lives. Not until someone finally took a stand...

And on the fourth day, the president of The United States of America was the first person in the world to speak for the people since before the Peace Keepers delivered their message to man kind.

"I know what you must be thinking: we won't last a day. The crime rates have increased so much over the Years. So it's kind of hard to believe that they will stop now... But we have to have hope. We can't live through these next four years waking up every morning wondering if today will be the end of the world because some idiot decided to rob that bank on forty-ninth street. But here's the thing... I believe we can make it through this. Why? Because I have hope.... All wars that have been going on for years now, because we can't agree on who has what, ended in a matter of hours because of these guys. So I don't see why we can't change the way we act. I don't see why we can't make it through these next four years...... Look, I'm not saying that we will. But I'm not saying that we won't either. But I suggest we take The Peace Keepers' advice, and at least try to become one gigantic race. So humanity? Are you with me or against me?"
