"What do you mean the class is cancelled?!" Kenna leaned forward on her hands over the older man sitting behind the registration desk. He looked up at her in boredom and let out a disdainful sigh as he repeated himself, "I'm sorry ma'am but the class has been cancelled due to lack of participation, you'll have to choose another course to fill your honors credits."

Kenna stared at him in shock for a moment, trying to come up with some form of response that could resolve this issue. "W-What classes do they have left?" Kenna stuttered nervously as she looked between her schedule and the man quickly. The man huffed impatiently as he typed on his computer before reaching across the desk and snatching her schedule from her.

He looked between the sheet and the screen for minute before raising an eyebrow at her. "You're majoring in secondary education, science and English?" He asked and Kenna nodded as she fiddled with the hair tie around her wrist. He nodded to himself as he continued to type on his computer before looking up at her with a thin-lipped smile.

"With your schedule your only choice will have to be Professor Casey's theater class. "Kenna's heart sunk at that and she could already feel the sweat beginning to form in her palms. "A-are you sure that's the only class available?" Kenna asked fearfully and the man let out an impatient huff before nodding his head.

"It is the only class that has not already been filled that will fit with your schedule. That is, unless you want to drop one of your other classes." Kenna knew she couldn't do that and let out a sigh as she nodded and said, "Well, I guess I'll be doing the theater class."

*******************************

"You have to do theater?!"Daniela laughed as they stood in line for coffee at the café. Kenna let out a sigh as she drug herself forward in line. "Leave me be. I'm already dreading it as." Kenna whined uncharacteristically as the thought of having to do any form of acting filled her with dread.

"Maybe they'll let you help produce or write the script or something. Maybe you won't even have to act." Daniela offered hopefully and Kenna took her words to heart as she recommitted her new schedule to memory. She made a mental note to look up where the theater class was on campus as she stepped up to be first in line.

"Welcome to Campus Coffee what can I get for you today?" Kenna had never seen the boy behind the counter before but he looked to be older than a freshman, maybe even older than her but not by much. She looked him in the eye and he grinned. Kenna looked away quickly as she said, "I want a small black coffee and a chocolate chip cookie."

Kenna stood nervously as he entered in the information in the cash register and the price rang up on the monitor. "Will that be all?" He asked softly, his deep voice pleasant to her ears. She paused a moment too long and blushed as she shook her head and handed over her student cash card. He swiped the card and handed it back and she quickly moved away from the counter to wait for her order to be finished.

Kenna was still recovering from her embarrassment when Daniela walked over when an amused glint in her eyes. "Does Kenny have a crush on coffee boy?" Daniela teased and Kenna quickly rolled her eyes before shoving her away and with a small laugh. "I just don't remember ever seeing him before is all." Kenna told her as her number was called and she stepped forward to get her coffee and cookie. She didn't bother looking at her simple order as she walked over to pick a table by the window of the empty sitting area.

Daniela was close behind and sat next to her as Kenna opened the wrapping on her cookie to discover a cinnamon cookie. Kenna threw it down in surprise and before looking to her drink that was most definitely not what she ordered either. Kenna looked up to see Daniela staring at her in surprise. "Aren't you allergic to cinnamon?" Daniela asked curiously and Kenna let out a sigh as she nodded and carefully wrapped the cookie back up and checked her receipt to see her order printed out correctly.

"I'm almost certain I picked up the right order. They called the number twenty-two when I went up right?" Kenna asked as she checked everything over once more. "Yeah, that's what I heard." Daniela agreed as she leaned back to sip on her coffee which, Kenna noted, was what her friend had ordered.

"I'll go figure this out." Kenna muttered mostly to herself as she picked up what she had been given. She noted that the drink was an iced coffee and looked absolutely revolting. She made it to the counter and the boy from before smiled at her as she came up. "Would you like something else?" He asked cheerfully, taking in her order with a hint of amusement in his eyes.

This amusement annoyed Kenna as she sat the deadly order on the counter. "Well actually, I would like what I ordered which had nothing to do with cinnamon." Kenna's tone was snappy but she preferred not to waste time especially after that morning's change in classes had already messed with her year already.

The boy's eyebrow quirked up as he looked between her receipt and her order with an amused grin threatening to spill out on his lips. "Do you have a problem with cinnamon ma'am?" Kenna could tell he was attempting to be playful but Kenna was rarely a playful person except with those close to her and especially not with someone who had tried to poison her.

"Yes, I'm allergic. Now give me my order like I asked. I don't have time for these games." Kenna snapped and the boy's grin disappeared as he nodded before turning to get her order. It didn't take long, it was a simple request. When he came back he didn't attempt to smile or joke he simply said, "Will that be all today ma'am?"

Kenna nodded with a tight lipped smile that conveyed her annoyance as her eyes scanned her order before taking it from his hands and walking back over to Daniela. Her friend grinned over her cup at her as she looked over at where the boy was watching Kenna walk away.

"I believe that poor boy was trying to flirt with you." Daniela told her as she sat her order on the table before sitting down. Kenna rolled her eyes as she glanced back over at the cashier who was busy righting something he had clearly just knocked over.

"Well he could have found a better way of doing it than trying to poison me." Kenna knew she was being unfair in saying that and she could tell Daniela wasn't hearing any of it as she stared at the boy with a curious light in her eyes. "He's cute." Daniela commented and Kenna turned to look for the last time in order to appease her friend.

He was tall if that counted for anything. His eyes were a dark green that may have been mixed with brown; Kenna wasn't too sure from the distance. He had long, slender fingers but from Kenna's brief interaction with him she knew he had seen work from the calluses that covered his palms. Kenna would place him at a bit over six foot, though she was never a good judge of height. His brown hair was cut short, revealing a square jaw and the scars from past acne that have yet to be healed.

"He's fine, I guess." Kenna said as she looked back to Daniela who was no longer looking at the boy. Instead, she was staring out the window with her cup pressed against her upper lip, but she wasn't drinking. Kenna attempted to follow her line of sight but she couldn't see past the lines of students rushing to their classes.

"Danny?" Kenna asked curiously, taking a pack of sugar and dumping it into her coffee before taking a sip and adding more until her friend finally pulled her eyes away from outside. Daniela smiled, taking a sip of coffee with a small giggle. "Oh you so like him?" € Kenna could tell Daniela was trying to change the subject and only took a moment of consideration before deciding not to push it any further.

"Oh shush, Daniela."
