All the times I sit there, just waiting. Watching for the clock to turn three so the bell can dismiss us to go home.

The part of the day where I hated, yet loved the most.

Those last few seconds before the bell rings where your heart slightly starts to race due to how anxious you are to get out of the class.

How the annoying kids in the back of the class had finally stopped talking because they knew if they didn't, the teacher would hold us back until we could behave.

How everyone quickly put their supples away and got their bag from the back of the class where they are kept through the whole class period.

And the simple satisfaction you have when you realise, you did it. You went through a whole school day without wanting to murder every single one there.

You realise that school will finally be over and you can finally leave to go home.

But then it hits you.

Home is even worse than school.

With the constant fights from the parents and the bad brother who does whatever he wants, whenever he wants.

The misfit brother and another sister to match.

Some say it's because of 'how they grew up' or it's 'all they know' but according to that, they are growing up all right.

"Hey you alright?" My only true friend at this school, Ella, asks.

Turning over to her, I smile the biggest one I can muster, "I'm perfect, just want to get out of here."

"I feel that." She starts, giving me a smile. "Wanna come to my house after school? There's this party tonight and you're pretty good at makeup and I kind of want you to do mine." She says embarrassingly, probably due to the fact that she hadn't really asked me to join her at the party or that she didn't ask if I even had my makeup supplies with me to even do hers for tonight.

"Ummm I don't know..." I long, teasing her. She didn't get the hint and her smile quickly faded as she looked down in sadness which shot a thick arrow in my heart.

"I'm playing, Ella, of course I will. You're lucky I brought my makeup today."

She quickly looks up to me and her sadness is replaced with a smile. "Thank you so much, Ona, I owe you!" She reaches over the desk I was sitting in to engulf me in a hug, trying her hardest to wrap her hands around me, seeing as she is so much smaller than I am.

I met Ella back in primary school when I was five. At the time, she just turned four and it was her birthday.

When it was your birthday, the teacher would usually have a little special calendar in the back with everyone's birthdays and when it was finally your time, the teacher would tell you happy birthday, have the class sing to you, and give you some candy that had scattered around in their desk.

But not for Ella. When it was her birthday, I remember how dressed up she got. She had a nice dress on and her hair was up in pretty curly pigtails.

The whole day went on and not once did anyone mention it was her birthday, everyone forgot.

I didn't.

I overheard her telling some of her 'friends' about how her birthday was today and they paid no mind to her.

The whole day went by and no one said anything and Ella started to get sad.

By lunch, no one had still told her and they even failed to mention how dressed up she got.
