Dipper's (POV)

When school was over, I felt awful, I couldn't believe I made a bet with the worst guy in the whole school. What was I thinking? There's no way I could find a date before prom! But that didn't stop me from trying... Before school ended I spent most of the rest of the day talking to different girls, seeing if any of them wanted to go with me. All said no. When I got home, I waved to my parents and went straight into my room. I closed the door behind me, and fell face first onto my bed. I grunt into my pillow.

*KNOCK KNOCK*

I hear a knock on my door, and grunt again.

"Come in!" I shouted. Mabel opens the door with a look of concern on her face.

"You okay bro-bro?" She sits at the end of my bed.

"I don't know Mabel, I'm starting to think that this was a bad idea." Mabel only smiles.

"Think of it this way bro, tomorrow is a new day, just try again and see what happens." I smile back at her.

"Yeah, you're right, I'll try again tomorrow." I sit up in bed and hug my sister.

"Thanks Mabel."

"No worries bro-bro!"

When the next day rolled around, I wasn't too sure if I was ready, but remembering what Mabel said, I take a deep breath as I walk up to the first girl of the day. Her name was Olly which was short for Olivia. She had long dark hair, black earrings, a nose ring, a black shirt with a red heart on it, and black jeans with holes on them. She had blue eyes, and a lot of make up on. I gulp as I go to tap her shoulder.

"Um, hi Olly." She turns to me and frowns.

"Oh hello, Dipper. What can I do for you?" She asks with a hint of annoyance in her voice. I gulp again.

"Well, I was wondering if you wanted to go to the prom with me?" She looks at me head to toe and laughs. I lower my head as she laughs. 'Great'. I think to myself. Finally she stops laughing.

"Listen, Dipper, I'm not really into prom. It's all just another stupid dance, not really worth my time. And seeing how a guy like you would ask a girl like me, it only shows how desperate you really are for a date." With all of that said, she walks away from me and into the hall way. I sigh, knowing all that she said was right.

"Hey bro-bro, how's the date search going?" I turn around and see Mabel there.

"Not too well, Mabel."

"Yeah, I figured after seeing all of that." She points down the same Olly walked into.

"You saw all of that? Then why you asking how it was going?"

"I thought she wasn't the first girl you talked to today." I shake my head.

"Well, keeping trying?" Mabel shrugs.

"Keep trying."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I did this all week. I asked almost every girl in my grade. Still nothing. I sigh again as I walk into my next class, which was study hall. It was a chance to relax and listen to some music. Of course the first song on my playlist was "Waiting for Love" by Avicii. I roll my eyes and play the song on my phone with my ear buds in.

"Where there's a will, there's a way, kinda beautiful."

"And every night has its day, so magical."

"And if there's love in the life, there's no obstacle."

"That can't be defeated."

"For every tyrant a tear for the vulnerable."

"In every lost soul the bones of a miracle."

"For every dreamer a dream we're unstoppable."

"With something to believe in."

"Monday left me broken."

"Tuesday I was through with hoping."

"Wednesday my empty arms were open."

"Thursday waiting for love, waiting for love."

"Thank the stars it's Friday."

"I'm burning like a fire gone wild on Saturday."

"Guess I won't be coming to church on Sunday."

"I'll be waiting for love, waiting for love."

"To come around."

*SLAM*

I take out my ear buds as a chubby arm hits my desk. I look up and see Chad there. I turn off my phone and stand up.

"What do you want Chad?" I ask annoyed.

"How's the date search going for you Dipstick?"

"Uhhhhhh..." I look around the room, looking for something I didn't think was there.

"You're not having much luck are you?" Chad laughs.

"No! I am... They just...Uhhhhh.."

"I'm sure you are." He laughs and leaves the room. I sit back down and hit my head against my desk.

"Oh, God in heaven, maybe I should just sit here." I say to myself. I suddenly feel a hand on my shoulder. I look up and see Mabel there. I kept forgetting that me and her shared the same study hall.

"Well, if you sit here for the rest of the week, you'll miss out of these concert tickets!" She lies down two tickets to see my favorite band live! I couldn't believe it.

"Holy crap, Mabel! Where did you get these?" I stand up and put my hands on her shoulders.

"I got these in advance. I thought when prom rolled around something like this would happen, so I got these!" I hugged her.

"Thank you so much, Mabel!" She hugs me back.

"No worries bro-bro." I let her go after about a minute.

"So, when is the concert?"

"This Saturday." I look up at the class room calendar, and see that it was Thursday. Great! That means there are only two days before the concert! I couldn't wait! Finally something going my way!
