"You have got to be kidding me."
I shuffle through the pile of papers strewn across the top of Dom's desk, desperately hunting for a pencil. I groan loudly and throw my hands in the air, giving up entirely. Dom lounges on her bed, her arm thrown over her eyes, her mouth hanging open. I give a heated sigh before nudging her arm with mine. Her head whips towards me and I shuffle away from her with my hands up. Laughing softly.
"Come on, I need you to show me where my next class is."
Dom lets out a groan and rolls slowly out of her bed with a grunt of anger. She grabs my schedule out of my hands with a glare and glances at the paper before heading to the door.
"We have that class together. It's not in the main building, it's out back close to the tree line."
Now it makes sense as to of why I couldn't find it on the map I was given, it's not even in this building. Figures. We shuffle down the hallway behind a group of girls who are immersed in conversation. Dom lets out a huff of annoyance and grabs my wrist, pulling me around them with a heated glare. I laugh at her impatience and raise my eyebrows when she grumbles loudly. I guess she really needed more time to nap. Dom drags me down the main stairs and out the main door of the building before making a sharp turn and heading towards the large open space behind the school. She pulls me with her quickly and I stumble behind her, her long strides difficult to keep up with. A building comes into view when she drags me through a line of trees and I grumble to myself. They really should have given me a better map. The building is off white and has large windows instead of walls and I can see people milling around the inside. Dom and I walk through the open door and I am assaulted by the stench of sweat and plastic. The layout of the building is plain, it is an open space fitted with benches on the side and padded mat's cover the entire floor. The back wall, the only wall that is not made out of windows, is covered with weapons of all kinds, my heart rate picks up immediately and I suddenly become giddy. Though I try hard to mask my excitement, Dom notices my jittering and sends me a sly grin. My hands itch to hold a blade and I almost let out a groan when Dom leads me to the benches on the right side of the room and plops herself down. I sit next to Dom with an unhappy grumble and she laughs, grinning at me happily. More students file in through the door and head for the benches, dragging their feet and letting out huffs of annoyance. Their thoughts are like daggers and I flinch slightly. Being around Dom, who's thoughts are mere whispers and are as calming as steady water, has made me even more sensitive to the thoughts of others. I breath a sigh of relief when Dom leans close to me, almost as if she knows how her being close makes it easier for me to focus on just her thoughts. I crease my brows and glance at her, her focus is forward but I see her eyes flicker and her thoughts breeze across my mind. A laugh escapes me when I realize that all she's thinking about is how I woke her from her nap. Suddenly the other students who had been speaking to each other go silent and I snap my head up to see the large woman who had welcomed me here standing in front of the benches, her arms clasped behind her back and her feet shoulder width apart. Her face expresses her annoyance and she glares at us before shifting her feet and pacing slowly in front of us. Her thoughts are fierce and I groan when they stray towards me. I search quickly through her mind to find her name, Ms. Croft. Her mouth opens to say something but she is cut off when suddenly the door slams open and Veronica saunters in, flipping her hair behind her with a blinding white smile in Ms. Crofts direction. I freeze when Damon walks in behind her, his dark hair falling messily over his forehead. The energy surges in my chest and I grit my teeth painfully, leaning my body off of the bench in pain. His eyes meet mine and they narrow slightly before he looks away in disgust. The energy batters my insides and I let out an angry hiss. Ms. Crofts gaze could make anyone within 3 feet of her crumble to ash, but Damon saunters past her and sits directly in front of me on the benches, Veronica grins in my direction and follows behind him. Suddenly Ms. Croft whips her hand out pushing a clipboard, that had been hidden behind her back, onto Veronica's chest to keep her in place.
