L'appel Du Vide - The Call Of The Void

Chapter 2.

CARINA'S POV:
The morning started of normal enough until breakfast when I was eating and suddenly someone sat down, that someone was Isaac.
"Morning Carina" he says
"Isaac, why are you sitting here?" I question
"Can it not be because I want your company?" He says in a sarcastic tone
"No." I state
"I need to ask you something about -" he is cut off by the lunch halls doors opening and a man I have never seen walk in with a gun attached to his hip and a taser on the other.
"LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, FROM NOW ON THINGS ARE GOING TO CHANGE AROUND HERE!" The mans starts to yell looking at all 103 of us in the room. One word is ringing in my mind change. change. Change. My heart rate increases as I continue listening. "I HAVE BEEN BROUGHT IN TO DISCIPLINE YOU WHO HAVE BEEN SUSPICIOUS, UNCOOPERATIVE AND DISRESPECTFUL TO AUTHORITY"
As he says this, Ben a short stocky boy at 17 stands up and before he can breathe a word. The older man stalks towards him and grabs him to which Ben tries to get free of his grip which results in the man getting his taser and taxing him between the shoulder blades. Ben falls to the ground with a wail as the man yells for guards to take him to "detention centre" 4 guards enter and carry Ben away.
"TO ANY OTHERS WHO WISH TO BE TAKEN TO THE DETENTION CENTRE PLEASE SPEAK NOW!"
He is greeted with dead silence.
"Good." Then the man walks out
Agatha walks in and explains that the government is making the facility safer for everyone and to be compliant. I also learn the mans name is William.

I look down at my table feeling sick before glancing at Isaac.
He looks at me and gets up, grabs my arm and pulls me outside to the garden where there are 10 guards circling to perimeter of the garden.
"What the fuck is going on?" I ask
"I have no idea but that man, William. Has a bad history, my father had him on file and it's not good for any of us" Isaac says looking down at me as he is at least a head taller than I am, even at my 5"9 height.
"What do you mean file?" I ask
"My father used to work for the police, I saw his file about 4 months ago, he used to run sick experiments on people who were deemed crazy." He says looking worried
"So what the fuck is he doing here?! Shouldn't he be in jail?" I ask
"I don't know what happened, all I know is he's a sick bastard" he replied
A guard comes into hearing range and I smoothly change the subject.
"Your piano playing was brilliant, how long have you been playing?" I ask quickly
Isaac must have seen the guard before replying "oh for a long time now."
We continue small talking until the guard walks past.
Before we can continue out conversation a scream is heard through the compound.
I run to the source of the noise which is from the common room, Isaac quickly on my tail.
Ben is in the middle of the room and is backing towards the wall as Melinda tries to reach for him he jolts away from her touch and falls to the ground sobbing.
I look at Isaac before slowly walking towards Ben on the floor.
"Ben? Ben. Ben look at me it's Carina" I speak calmly and quietly to him as I slowly approach, I get a flash of a memory when two years ago when he fell down the main steps and broke his arm and I comforted him.
Ben slowly locks his gaze to mine before grabbing my arm and yanking me towards him
"He's insane help me! HELP ME! They are crazy, he wants to drill a hole in my head, oh god!" Ben starts yelling like an insane person before letting go of my arm and saying "get out of here." Before breaking down again.
My chest hurts and my vision starts to blur and I run towards the garden with my head spinning, before collapsing on the closest bench while starting to hyperventilate. I look to the guards who don't pay a second glance to me as I start to have a full fledged panic attack. I feel someone's presence walking towards me I look up at my heart stops beating for a second to see William our new warden who did something to Ben look down at me.
"Missy can I help you? Should I take you to the hospital bay?" He says with a sly smile
My breath stops in my throats my panic attack froze and I am terrified.
"N-no I am fi-fine sir." I say looking up at him
"Good" he walks away
I immediately start to throw up and I feel a hand on my shoulder, I flinch before seeing it is Isaac.
I am hyperventilating and I can't breathe, Isaac gets on his knees in front of me and grabs my arms.
"Carina, look at me."
Everything I hear sounds like I am underwater
"Carina. Carina!"
I glance up and see Isaac
"Carina breathe with me okay? Breathe." He says calmly
Yep he can be calm while I want to throw my guts up but am a bit preoccupied by trying to breath.
Suddenly a hand covers my mouth and nose stopping my ability to breathe for about 10 seconds before I can breathe again.
I see Isaac sigh in relief "thank god Carina are you alright? What did William say to you?" He asks.
"You dickhead you tried to kill me!" I start to yell
"Shhh! Carina answer this are you still having a panic attack?"
I suddenly notice I'm not and look at him.
"Thank you." I mutter
I try to get up but collapse back into the bench.
Isaac helps me up and aids me into the common room where Ben has now disappeared and up towards the stairs. My watch beeps saying it's 3. We missed lunch.
We get to my room and Isaac helps me onto the bed then suddenly freezes. And then walks out.
Shit.
