I woke up to small rays of light, dotting the room as the dust appeared to spiral. Holes in the curtains. I felt as if I would fall off the bed, however the strong musk of boy kept me in. Wait, what?
“Morning Juliet.” He laughed, sitting on his bed.
“Morning.” I say, burying myself under the covers.
“Rise and shine!” He whipped away my covers and I curled up in a ball. Hands over my head.
“I don’t want to get up.”
“Aw, well you are.”
“Nope.”
He leaned over and wrapped his hands round my waist, pulling me up. Big mistake buddy, was the last thought I had before he started tickling me.
“I’m up! I’m up!” I whined, damned boys. I thought they were the ones to stay in bed all day but apparently not.
My head hadn’t been hurting till the memory of yesterday hit my like a brick at the sight of pancakes. Yes I know that’s kind of stupid, but my mum used to hire a woman who made the best pancakes. Her name was Valentina. I slumped to the table with my spare clothes on. Slamming my head to the table before picking up a knife and fork. The kitchen didn’t look have bad, it appeared as if Blake had tidied the place in the early hours of the morning. It wouldn’t surprise me.
I was shocked to find the pancakes weren’t from a ready make box or some powdery mix. They were pretty good I have to say, different toppings lay out before me but of course I went for bacon and maple syrup. Yum.
“Nice pancakes. What’s the plan for today?” I asked him, looking up as he made himself a small one.
“Well, remember what you said about your brother doing skateboarding with you and then fixing you up? I have a couple of old skateboards I thought we’d take to my dad’s old mates place an then go skating. Sound fun?”
“Of course! If I wasn’t so tired.” I said, yawning again.
“Too bad. Right, let’s go!”
When he said ‘my dad’s old mates place’ I didn’t think he’d be an hour’s walk away. Nevertheless, we walked, half rolled, our selves there. Meanwhile, Blake’s uncle was sobering up, hopefully to make us sushi.
The walk was…boring. Breezy. Tiring. Somehow I managed to see the bright side of it. Too kids rolling along, tripping up and playing “sweet or sour”.
“YES! That guy with the sleeve beeped at me!”
“I don’t believe you.”
“He totally did! How did you miss that?”
“I hear what I like to hear. That’s the sound of my victory.”It continued this way for half the journey till we found a small meadow. It appeared I’d actually woken up near lunch time and we were now eating ham sandwiches. Naturally, he started throwing grass at me. Yay.
“Stop it!”
“Oh but you look good as a grass spirit!”
“There isn’t any such thing!”
“How would you know?”
“I…I just know!”
“We’re all part of the same sick little games
I need to get away, get away
I’m wasting my days, I throw them away
losing them all on these sick little games.”
All Time Low blasted out his phone, funny what sort of bandoms boys are involved in, hm. I think the song was rather appropriate.
We found ourselves wrestling into a past of daisies. He was no match for my non-existent muscles and raging passion to fight. Not really. I ended up surrendering.
“No! Wait! I have a peace offering! Just give me ten minutes!”
“What?”
I began fashioning a small crown of daisies. He’d look fabulously “hipster” after I was done with him. A little while later and he began fashioning a much better one that was basically a wreath of daisies, buttercups and dandelions. Show off. However, it was delicately crafter and looked very pretty. I placed the small band of daisies round his head and grinned. It really suited his whole dark attire. Did I mention he looks great in black skinny jeans and chains?
“Fit for a princess!” I rolled my eyes and lowered my head as he gently placed the crown on my head.
“Lovely!” I smiled, crossing my eyes up to look at it.
“I think it’s only appropriate we take selfies. However I take them to a whole new level.” He pulled out an old Polaroid camera, one of the proper ones. The black squares with the little rainbow symbol of the paper. Snap!
