Airports can be really boring, I mean annoyingly so. I've already spent the first thirty minutes shopping spending my 'airport' cash. Its funny, that whenever you're travelling, even when your going on vacation, there is just this uncontrollable need to go shopping in the airport. So now I have my carry-on filled useless junk-except maybe the KitKat bars-my greatest weakness when it comes to sweets.

I sat down facing the Starbucks in the departure lounge taking a minute to observe my surroundings-sitting directly across from me was a mother of two, twin girls- they have been running around like chickens with their heads cut off or the past twenty minutes. In that moment she looks up at me looking quite helpless-I couldn't help but feel so sorry for her-as it looks the father is not around and no one else to help.

I turned my vision to my right to see a group of Japanese business men all talking very rapidly-I couldn't understand a word that was being said so I quickly lost interest. I was about to reach for my book, might as well start reading I thought to pass the time, when something small grabbed onto my leg. I look down to see one of the twins smiling up at me-she couldn't be more than 3 years old-the look of happiness of her face I couldn't help but return the smile. I looked up over to the mother and smiled-I could see the hesitation at first on her face-as though she wasn't sure how'd I'd react to her child hanging off my leg.

"Is this yours." I tried to first sound serious but immediately widened my smile to let her know that I was only joking.

"I'm sorry-I think I made a wrong move giving them candy before a flight-but anything to get them dress in time this morning." she smiled weakly.

"Its no problem." I answered then reverted my gaze back to the child, still latched on to my leg. "And what's your name?" I asked in that very high, annoying voice we adults always put on when talking to children. I couldn't help but wondering if they just think we sound like idiots. I picked her up and sat her on my lap-she took an instant like to my Iphone-observing with all her might as to figure it out-the intense look she had on her face was laughable.

"Emily," the mother said "...and this is Amy-Lee"

"Cute. Played up the whole twin thing I see."

"It was their father's idea. I just hope they don't hate me for it when their older." she laughed. We fell into a comfortable silence for a few minutes while Emily, the one my lap started playing with of her cabbage patch doll-its been a while since I've seen one of those.

"This is most peace I've had in days-thank you. I'm Michelle by the way." she said outstretching her hand.

"I'm Claire. Claire Ramonos, it's nice to meet you."
