Warriors Fanfiction: Ragged Sky

Chapter 1

Pineleaf tucked her head over her paws as she laid in the prisoners den. The Savages had taken her captive the day before, not feeding her anything, not giving her water or fresh moss. But when they weren't looking, she would slip out to the stream to drink and hunt near the trees. She couldn't escape because cats guarded the border all the time. Pineleaf was bored, The Savages barely let her come out of the den, and when they did, she had to be scratched and bitten for killing Leapstar, and was under very close watch the rest of the time. Her wounds healed quickly, though. Pineleaf closed her eyes, letting sleep take over her. She dreamed of fog surrounding her. Thick fog, so thick, that she couldn't see through it. "Strength is stronger here than you think." A raspy voice whispered within the fog, " We, are the Black Void, their ancestors. And you, are a captive. " a ghost of a she-cat emerged from the mist. "And I, am your Worst Nightmare." Pineleaf stared at the she-cat, "Why did you bring me here? " she asked. Worst Nightmare shook her fur, " Because, it's my job; to scare cats. It brings the Black Void and I great excitement. " Pineleaf stared at her. "Now fear the fall!" Worst Nightmare disappeared into the fog, and before Pineleaf could move, a hole below engulfed her. She screamed in panic as she fell into the darkening abyss. And before the dream ended, she knew she could hear the chuckles of laughter from Worst Nightmare and the cats of the Black Void.

Pineleaf awoke to Karissa poking her with an extended, filthy claw. "Get up!" She snapped harshly, the former ally cat shoved Pineleaf out of the den and into the clearing, where cats were gathered around, Paleblood in the center. Karissa gave Pineleaf another shove, so that she was bent over at the leader's paws. "Today is Pineleaf's next morning of punishment for our beloved leader's death. In the name of Leapstar, which two cats would like to give Pineleaf what she deserves?" Banshee and Selma raised their tails, Paleblood dipped her head, beckoning the two mates forward. Closing her eyes, Pineleaf felt their claws rake her fur and cut her flesh. When it was all over, she collapsed in pain, breathing hard. Paleblood got up in her face, her eyes staring into her soul. "I hope you've learned your lesson." She growled in a soft tone, her voice shaking with every word she spoke. As the cats departed away, Pineleaf covered her face with her paws and cried softly. "I want my brother!" She cried very quietly, "I want my brother! I want to go home!"
