I shook my head frantically, tears spilling on my cheeks, running down my nose. I don't want to do this anymore, be this girl anymore. This isn't you Ardor, I thought to myself over and over again. I couldn't take it anymore. The reputation I have built since freshman year has came back to haunt me.

"Ardor, babe you okay in there?" Josh Larsen asked tapping lightly against the door.

Josh.

I almost forgot that he was in the other room! He can probably hear me crying right now.

God, how pathetic!

"Yeah," I answered back, trying my best to sound casual, happy even. I'm far from it.

Ever since my parents split up freshman year I have been a major wreck. All I ever wanted to do was get drunk, have sex, get drunk again, have sex some more. This ongoing pattern is what got me here in the first place: The football team captain's master bathroom.

I glanced tentatively at the mirror, accessing the damage. Bite marks lingered along my jaw line and down my breast.

God my mom is going to kill me.

My long brown hair was a tangled mess, resulting for the multiple times Josh had pulled my hair. My baby blue eyes were slightly red but I'm sure he'll just think that I'm high. I hope.

I began to think of a million excuses to say to my mother as I began to dress. I opened the door to see a shirtless Josh with a remote in hand, casually changing the TV. How can someone make such an awkward situation seem so normal? Oh, yeah. He's Josh.

"Where are you going, Ardor?" He asked completely oblivious to the fact that it was midnight.

"Gee, I don't know, home?"

"You're going home this early?"

He has got to be kidding me.

"Yes, Josh. It's midnight."

I made my way slowly down the stairs, out the door, and into the September breeze. I looked up at the moon and frowned. Why am I this way? It has been so hard since my parents split up. I don't see a reason to come home for dinner when my father won't be there. I don't see a reason to follow any of their rules. If only I had parents who wouldn't argue with one another everyday. If only my parents were together. I would change my ways to have that happen.

Too bad there is never a happy ending to this life.

After the twenty minute walk home I stood in front of my house debating on whether I should go in or not.

"The lights are off so that's a good sign." I turned around quickly and frowned.

"Nathan, what the hell are you doing?"

"The real question is what the hell you are doing," he countered, crossing his hands across his chest and smirking.

Nathan wasn't exactly an angel either. He was known for having more than one girlfriend at a time and on rare occasions none. His eyes were golden brown and the moon seemed to reflect off them perfectly. Nathan's dark brown hair fell perfectly down his forehead. His eyes weren't the only things golden

He seemed to have his whole life planned out. Nathan has been recruited for football by many colleges but chose to sign with the Florida Gators. Why he did that so early in the year I don't know but if you are the best football player at your high school, you can do just about anything.

"Nathan Blythe."

"Ardor Hollander."

I shook my head and laughed.

"Wow I sure wish we can go back to the third grade when I kicked your ass."

He laughed.

"I wasn't even trying! And besides, I was taught at an early age not to abuse animals. It's wrong."

I looked at him and smiled.

"It's times like this when I thank god you don't go to my high school."

Nathan rolled his eyes and smiled right back.

"You might want to get going, Hollander. Don't want your mom seeing you out here," he said nodding towards my home.

I closed my eyes and nodded, remembering my mom and soon to come wrath.

"Yeah, thanks."

He is being so nice today. What gives? I turned around and walked slowly towards my house, taking all the time I possibly can.

"Oh and Ardor?" he called out quietly. I turned around and frowned.

"What?"

"Good luck with hiding the hickeys." He chuckled and jogged over to his house.

I narrowed my eyes at his retreating back and turned to face home. Even in such dire situations he still manages to make me forget everything, all my problems. I took a deep breath and entered my home.
