Chapter 1- "So we meet again, Mustache Guy?"

It was a sunny day, the music in my earphones drowning out the world. It had been a regular day, like every other. I was in the car on my way home, my mom & dad in the front seat, when It happened. I saw it before I felt it. The bright flash of headlights, then a crashing sound. I felt my neck jerk forward, along with the rest of my body. My earphones were ripped out of my ears, just in time to hear my parents muffled screaming. After a few seconds, everything cut off. My eyes drooped to a close, my body becoming unconscious. The last thing I saw was my mom, bleeding and trapped, screaming out my name. "I love you," She whispered, her eyes closing for the last time.

I jerked awake, screaming. Tears were streaming down my face and my shirt was damp with sweat. It had happened again. Forcing myself out of my bed, I walked over to my window. I wiped away my tears. Why? Why had this happened to me? I questioned. I sat there and stared out the window, not noticing the beautiful L.A. day. It was perfectly sunny out, everyone would think it was a perfect, happy day...right? No. In fact, most of my days were usually spent not being happy. I couldn't help it, but most everything reminded me of my parents. I walked over to my dresser and pulled out my grey Hollister hoodie, some skinny jeans, and my red Toms out of my closet. I looked up, right at the old framed photo of my parents. See what I mean? I can't even put on my damn clothes without thinking of them. My cell phone rang, pulling me out of my thoughts. It was my friend, Lucy. I answered it. "Hey Lucy," I sighed. "Hey Dani! why such the bitter mood?" She asked. "Why so curious?" I laughed. "Well, your my best friend, the one I've been with since....well, you know." She said. "Yeah,"I said. You see, when the..."accident" with my parents happened, I was shipped off to the nearest foster home. That was where I met Lucy. We had always snuck to each other's beds and talked late at night, until a nice enough family came along and took Lucy away from me. We were still in touch yeah, but it just wasn't the same without her. And when I became 18, I moved out and away from there. I moved to America, hoping to start over from there. And Lucy came with me. It had been a year since Lucy and I had moved here to L.A., and we still were amazed by it. It was usually pretty sunny and clear, and it was always warm. Unlike Holmes Chapel, England where I was originally from. 'So," Lucy continued, snapping me out of my thoughts again,"I was thinking we could go to the mall today?" I smiled. "Yep, sounds good. I'll meet you there in 30 minutes, kay?" I suggested. Lucy agreed and we hung up. The mall was only about a block down from my flat, easy walking distance. I quickly changed and headed down there. When I got there, I couldn't find Lucy. I tried calling her, but she wouldn't answer her phone. Finally, half an hour later, she texted me saying:

Sorry babe, can't make it. My boss called & it's an emergancy! sorrrryyyyy);  xx -LucyMae

I sighed. Okay, just another shopping day alone. I decided to head over to Hollister, my favorite store. Once I was inside, I was looking at the jackets when I bumped into someone. "Oh sorry," I said, turning around. I almost burst out laughing at what I saw. It was a guy, dressed in a fake mustache, a white onesie, and sunglasses. "Nice mustache," I said, obviously knowing it was fake. The guy turned around."Thanks," He said quietly, turning back around. Oh...that was weird. I thought. I decided to move on to the next store.
