As the Institute began to rise up in front of them Simon glanced sideways at Florence, she was scrunching up her nose at the sight of an old, crumbling church. The same way Simon had when he first saw the Institute, before he had the Sight. But then, out of the corner of his eye Simon watched Fae's eyes light up in wonder. "Oh, my" she said under her breath, while touching the back of her hand to her forehead. She looked as if she were going to faint. "Fae are you alright?" Simon asked as he pulled onto the gravel behind the Institute, he didn't want to draw attention by leaving his mom's minivan in the front. Florence nodded her head ever so slightly, "yes I just" she hesitated and closed her eyes, sighing when she said "I suppose I have a headache." Simon pondered this and then remembered what Isabelle had told him when he first started training.

"After you ascend you will be given the Sight, but because you're a mundane the gift of Sight can be slightly..painful." Simon had jerked his head up from where it had been resting on his arm. He'd been sprawled across the floor of the training room, finally getting a break when Clary had shown up to distract Jace. "Painful?" he'd asked as Isabelle threw a knife across the room from where she was sitting next to him. The knife splintered the wood of the target and the sound echoed off the empty walls. "Nothing too bad, a slight headache, possibly fatigue" she had been leaning forward as she talked and moved to brush her lips against his cheek. Ever since he'd returned Izzy couldn't keep her hands off of him, not that he minded.

Clary's laugh snapped Simon out of his reverie and he jumped at the sight of Isabelle coming towards the car, arms crossed, a scowl on her face. It struck him then that there was a girl in the car next to him, a pretty girl at that.
