Suddenly feeling ill at ease, Valerie began shifting her weight and smoothing out the wrinkles on her dress. After readjusting her headband anxiously, she looked at her watch to find that thirty minutes had already passed on by.
As songs played on, "Valerie" by Amy Winehouse came on. This was surely one of Valerie's favourite songs, the reason is obvious.
"Well sometimes I go out by myself
And I look across the water
And I think of all the things, what you're doing
And in my head I paint a picture..."
The lyrics were beyond doubt spot on. Standing next to the water ride, she was envisioning Sean surprising her with a bouquet of flowers when he arrived and the two of them would go on every single ride together, he would use his improbably good aiming skills and win her a ginormous teddy bear from a penny-pitching game, they would share lunch together, at the end of day they would get on the Ferris Wheel and watch the flaming redness of the sunset disappear behind the mountains. Valerie blushed madly while fantasising about sharing their first kiss. Everything seemed more blissed out than ever when accompanied by background music.

The ringing of the nearby town hall clock had snapped Valerie out of her trance. "Where is he?" She began worrying, "What if he doesn't come?" She twiddled her thumbs and bit her bottom lip in agitation. Her mind began to wander on all the times he broke his promises, how he failed to show up each time after she asked him out without exception. Each time he would eat humble pie and come up with unoriginal makeup ideas like ice-cream and hyacinths. Valerie shook her head to get rid of her negative thoughts. No, he was definitely coming. Things would have changed this time. It was Sean who asked her out, there was no way he would stand her up.
Valerie couldn't wait anymore. It was now 4 p.m. He left her waiting for six hours. Valerie decided to give up and go home. Her jade coloured eyes were all red and tired from searching through the crowd for his face. This had got to be the most painful failed date ever. Not only has Sean Peterson has cut out on her, but he had also shattered all of her remaining hopes and dreams. The feeling of treachery was very much agonising. She felt so sure he liked and cared about her, like he wouldn't have looked so nervous, constantly rubbing the back of his head and shifting his weight from side to side, when asking her out if he didn't. She was always optimistic and set on the idea that Sean was just shy, but now that she was stricken with realisation, she couldn't have denied that he had absolutely no interest in her at all. This was all a hoax. She had her last look at the main entrance- "Come back soon!" Feeling utterly dejected, she trudged through the sidewalks of Jocose Square.
