Ever since Evelyn Hammond was six years of age she had wanted to become an actress, unfortunately the weight of this life had put those dreams to rest. As life goes however, there still remains a small sliver of that dream left in her heart.

Evey sat down on her living room sofa, with V's death six months behind her, and the possibility of her childhood dreams potentially coming true, she was both in grief and elated. She sighed and went to the kitchen for a glass of water, "when will things just all work out for once" she said aloud to an empty apartment, no one was listening but it felt nice to get things off of her chest. The phone started to ring, "hello?" she answered, "hello, is this Evey Hammond speaking?" The strange voice asked, "yes, yes it is. May I ask who this is?" Evey replied, "oh! Yes, I've forgotten to introduce myself, my name is Edward O'Shea, and I'm head of the casting department at Woodruff Theater" "oh! Hello sir, have you gotten my audition sheet?" Evey exclaimed. "Yes I have, everything looks great, I'll give you a little bit of coaching but other than that you can start next Tuesday" he said, "oh okay, thank you so much, you won't regret this decision" she replied, after they both said their formal goodbyes she hung up the phone and went back to getting a glass of water, "well at least it's a start" she said aloud once again.

Tuesday rolled around, Evey got up early and quickly got prepared for the day that was to come, she rode her bicycle to the theater as it was only 2 miles away. "Ah hello Miss, are you new here?" Said the greeter in the lobby, "yes, I am, I'm looking for Edward O'Shea, do you know where I could find him?" Evey said, looking around. "Oh yes, his office is to the right, down that hall, three doors on the left. "You enjoy your time here miss" the greeter said with a smile, "thank you" Evey replied with a formal smile, as she headed off to the right. The truth is that she hadn't genuinely smiled since V's departure, she just -couldn't, in a way. She came to a big wooden door that said 'Casting Dept. - E. O'Shea' , she knocked and soon a tall, light brown haired man opened the door and greeted her, "you must be Evey" he said, "I'm Edward O'Shea, but you can call me Ed" he said with a slight wink and smile, "oh, yes, okay" she replied, slightly nervous as expected.

The two of them looked over the script and practiced some of the scenes, the play was new, and had never been performed before; this was the debut. "So.. did you write the play or did someone else?" Evey asked Edward, Edward laughed "no I certainly did not write this masterpiece, about one year ago the theater held a competition to see who could write the best play, this script won, however the playwright remains anonymous. Luckily whoever it is signed over the copyright to us" Ed shrugged and went back to reading another part "oh, that's interesting" replied Evey. "Yes, very. It's very well written as well which definitely helps the editing department, why do you ask?" Ed said with a slight frown "oh, no reason, just curious" Evey said with a shrug.

"Welp, it's getting late, and we've made a lot of progress, what do you think about calling it a day?" Ed asked Evey, "yeah I agree, should I be back here at the same time tomorrow?" Evey responded, "yes, or you could come in later if you're not an early morning type of person" Ed replied with a slight smile, "no, I kind of enjoy early mornings, anyways I'll see you at the same time tomorrow" Evey said, "okay sounds fantastic, farewell new friend" Ed said walking away with his coat in hand, "Okay, see you!" Evey said, also walking away.
When Evey got home she got dressed into lounge clothes, and lied down on the couch, "it's a start" she said with a smile while remembering her awkwardness, she then closed her eyes and fell asleep.
