Althea

A lot has change since the last time i step inside our corporate tower here in Makati, its a 50 floor building with 3 basements for parking. Every year yata nagpapalit ng landscape, i cant blame if Daddy want it that way dahil nasa IT industry kami and change is the only constant thing we deal with. The Guevarra Digital Corp. basically provides clients with trusted programs and reliable computer servers to run their operation as swiftly as digitally possible. With my Dad's perseverance, nasa top spot kami locally and 3rd largest in Asia. Kaya nga nakakapressure because as the only child, im certain na darating ang time na ako ang magpapatakbo ng lahat ng ito. Everything that my Dad work hard for will be entrusted to my shoulder, its an honor but at the same time nakakatakot dahil deep inside, all i ever wanted is to play my guitar and make music. But as he always tell me since i was a little girl, im destined to make our company the largest in Asia. And as the obedient child that i am, i will do so when my time comes.

"Good morning Althea."

The random staff in the busy hallway greeted me, i feel good na hindi nila ako tinatawag na 'mam' or anything dahil sobrang hassle nun since mas matanda sila sa akin.

"Gandang Umaga din sa inyo."

I replied with the same enthusiasm. Nasa pinakadulong bahagi ang office ni Daddy at malayo pa, sinalubong na ako ni Miss Ruby, ang long time secretary ni Dad. She's been with him since i can remember, parang Tita na rin ang trato ko sa kanya and lahat ng anak niya eh Ninong si Dad. Hindi ko napigilang matawa dahil sa slow motion niyang pagtakbo palapit sa akin.

"Althea...kamusta ka? Tagal mong hindi bumisita ha, busy sa lovelife? Meron na ba, baka puro fling fling pa rin yan?"

"Hello po sa inyo, pumapayat ka yata ah..."

She shake her hips, epic talaga ang humor niya. Honestly, hindi siya pumayat, lalong tumaba pa nga yata.

"I know right. Ikaw wag mo akong nililinlang ha, may someone special kana ba? Sagot Althea."

"Haha...uhm...yes po."

Pumalakpak ito at nagpasayaw-sayaw, everytime magkikita kami, love life ko ang ginagawa niyang topic. She finally stop dancing ng hingalin.

"Omg, napagod ako dun ah. Halika na nga, hinihintay kana ng Daddy mo sa office."

"Mabuti pa nga, dapat kasi nagpapawis kayo palagi wag puro buffet."

Nagtawanan pa kami habang magka-akbay na tinahak ang malawak na hallway. Im getting curious kung bakit ako pinatawag ni Dad, im sure its something about business.

"Short notice yata Dad?"

"Pardon Althea, i was so caught up with work that i fail to give you a heads up. But everything is all plan out, you will leave tomorrow night."

Im holding in my hand a wedding invitation from one of my pinsan, the wedding will took place in the family resort in Cebu. 3 days ang event dahil prenup shooting pa and dry run. Okay lang naman if i serve as his proxy, what bothers me is that malalayo ako kay Jade ng ilang araw, kung kailan pa naman may ganap na the other day.

"I already ask Ruby to book your ticket Anak, kunin mo na lang sa kanya."

Nakaupo ako sa harap ng table niya while he's busy digging on the file of documents on the table. Nakikita ko na ang magiging future ko, ill be in the same spot as him, wearing the same expression on my face.
