(I listened to the song above while typing this, and I feel it goes well with this chapter.)
Carlos, after a few long hours, finally awoke. But he wasn't on the concrete anymore. This was because it was warmer..a bit softer, but also uncomfortable. He raised his head to find that he was in a building of some kind. An abandoned one. He was on a grey-ish couch. It was a little ripped, but soft. He must've awoke from the discomfort of the rips and springs. He sat up slowly, wincing near silently from the pain in his neck from the recent injection.
From his right ear, he could hear a distant hum. It made him shudder, breath audible and shaky. As if it hadn't happened, the humming stopped. "Oh..I almost forgot you were here..Even though I'm the one who brought you here." A voice says, quiet, and maybe just a little raspy. He looked towards the source of the voice. She was a wolf. Her hair was white, and dyed a bit with a heavy teal. She wore a black collar..or...that's what it looked like. Her fur was a grey-ish pale cyan, and was a bit lighter on some places. Around her eyes was pitch black, like the eye sockets of a skeleton.
To Carlos, she looked like an intimidating individual. But there was one thing that made him really feel fear. Her eyes. Her right on was a calm, light cyan. But her left...her left was a piercing red, and what should've been the whites of her eyes was a dark, bloody red. And those were the eyes studying him in his every move. His timid shifting, his shivering from a sudden cold chill, and his attempts to speak, only to be too nervous.
"I hope you realize that I'm not dangerous." She sighed, expression changing from a curious glance, to an unamused stare. Hearing the other's words, he spoke. "Well...do you have a name then..? His voice was soft and broken, almost like a whisper. The canine laughed. "Course I do...we all have names here, Pilo." She smiled. Carlos blinked once, confused. Before he could speak, the other stood up. "I know..you're confused." She stepped towards him slowly. "Where am I? Why am I here? Oh, and why did you call me that?" With every question, another step was taken.
Carlos, or, Pilo as he was referred to as, scooted back. As if taking notice of the other's fear, the wolf grabbed Pilo's arm and pulled him towards her. "Calm down. I won't hurt you." The bright red flashed through both of her eyes this time. As if under her control somehow, Pilo calmed down slightly. "Good. Now..allow me to introduce myself." She cleared her throat, seeming so calm with having the panther so close. "I'm Chemine, I'm the sheriff of this town.."
Carlos opened his mouth to speak his name, but was hushed. "Pilotome. You're Pilotome." She sounded commanding. The soft voice had turned to one that was annoyed, ordering, and a bit harsh. "But..why is that-" before he could continue, he was startled into silence by Chem's growl. "If you expose your true identity, a previous killer or victim will remember you. They'll take your life. But if you die down here, I've heard that you don't come back." Then she went quiet, and a few seconds later, spoke again. "So I'd recommend keeping yourself safe and sticking with Pilotome. Don't get yourself in danger. Understand that, p e t ?" She narrows her eyes, which are both now blood red. Hesitantly and timidly, he nods."Good. Now then..save your questions. We need to get you to the base safely."
