Jonathan Toews (Chicago Blackhawks)

Jonathan's POV

I wake up to the sound of my alarm, it's 5:00 am. Today's the beginning of a new chapter in my life and I couldn't be more excited. Tonight's my NHL debut with the Chicago Blackhawks. They're coming off a rough season so hopefully I can change that. Tonight's the 3rd game of the season and they're coming off a 4-3 win at home. I get out of bed quietly, hoping not to wake up my girlfriend of 4 years Kallie. Kallie and I met in freshman year of high-school and were best friends ever since. In freshman year of college we started dating and I've never been happier.

Back to tonight. I can't believe I'm finally gonna be out there on the ice, the ice at the United Center. I'm so nervous but my wonderful girlfriend always knows how to keep me calm.

I go downstairs to get some breakfast. I make the usual; blueberry waffles, bacon, and toast. I pop the waffle mix and blueberries into the waffle maker and put the bacon in the oven. I run back upstairs to wake Kallie up.

"Good morning sunshine." I whisper in her ear as she comes to. "good morning" she groans as she stretches. "Are you excited for tonight? I can't wait to sit there and cheer you on babe." She smiles and I can't help but to smile either.

"I'm beyond excited but also nervous. You just being there makes me less nervous though. But let's forget about the game for now, cmon breakfast is almost ready.

I go back downstairs and flip the waffle maker and take the bacon out of the oven. I put the bacon on a plate and pop the bread in the toaster.

Kallie's POV

Jonathan came into the room to wake me up. I love when he wakes up early just to make us breakfast. He just went downstairs and now I'm freshening up. I go into the bathroom and wash my face. I brush out my hair and throw it into a messy bun. After freshening up I go down stairs to the amazing smell of blueberry waffles.

- time skip -

It's 5 pm and Jonathan just left for the game. I'm still getting ready, Kaner's sister Jessica is gonna drive me to the arena for tonight's game. I decided to wear my blue washed out ripped jeans, my adidas sneakers, and obviously my brand new red Toews jersey. I put my hair back up into a messy bun and waited for Jessica to tell me she was outside.

Jonathan's POV

"Hey Toews, ready for your big night?" I hear as I pick up my head. Patrick is walking over with his bag with his stuff. "Ready as I'll ever be." I reply standing up and dabbing him off. I take a seat back in my stall which is right next to Kane's. Ever since we got to Chicago, Patrick and I have been the closest. We sit in our stalls and just talk.

"Jess just texted me saying she picked up Kallie." Pat says as he puts his phone back on top of his stall. All the guys have arrived and coach just walked in to give us our pregame pep talk.

"All right boys gather up! Tonight's another big night, for some even bigger," He looks over at me. "Now let's get out there and show our fans what we got!" Everyone started clapping and cheering. Tonight's definitely a big night.

All the guys line up in the halls for pregame practice in front of the fans. I though nothing of it when Crawford told me to go to the front of the line. The lights went on and we were off on the ice, at least I thought we were. I did a lap around the ice and realized I was the only one on. The guys were laughing as so ways I. After taking a few shots on net the boys finally came on. The fans were all cheering, tonight's gonna be a good night. I caught Kallie a few times, even tossed her a puck. Of course she gave it to the young fan in front of her.

The puck had dropped. It's officially my debut. My first shift went by fast. We're about 10 minutes into the game and both teams are scoreless. It's my turn back on the ice. This is about my 4th shift of the night. I'm skating with my line mates Kane and Seabrook. Kane passed it across the ice to Seabrook. I was waiting at the blue line. 6:24 on the clock. I skate passed two sharks players. I lift the puck up onto my stick and shoot. Time froze on the boards at 6:17. The puck was in the back of the net. The crowd was electric. I was stunned. I just scored my first NHL goal on my debut night. I was engulfed my my line mates and defensive pair. They all patted my head and hugged me. Kaner gave me a huge hug once we split. I skated passed the bench, all the guys yelling squirting me with water, and shaking my head. The ref tossed me the puck and I gave it to our equipment manager. I sat down on the bench and got a pat on the back from Coach. I turned around and saw a huge smile on Kallie's face, she sat 15 rows up from the bench.

Kallie's POV

I was on my feet!! Screaming like a maniac. The arena was louder then I've ever heard it. Jonathan just scored his first career goal. After he sat down he looked up at me and all I could do was smile.

Jonathan's POV

It's been like 2 minutes and I still can't get over that I scored. I got onto my next shift and got my first career penalty, 2 minutes for hooking. Later that night I got another hooking penalty in the 2nd. We ended up losing 2-1 but it was still an incredible night. After the game in the locker room, Kane tossed me my puck and I put it into my duffle bag. "Thanks kid."

"Congrats Toewser! First career goal in your first game? Not a lot of kids can say they've done that. Heck, you got mores goals then Kaner over there" Cory laughs as he walks to his stall. Kane looked up and rolled his eyes playfully. "Everyone dressed in here?" I hear coach ask. "Yeah we're good." Seabrook yells.

Next thing I knew I was engulfed in probably one of the biggest hugs. "JONATHAN!! I cant believe you scored tonight, I'm so happy for you!!"

"Thanks babe, that one was for you" I smiled and she smiled back. "Aw I love you." She said smiling, "I love you too."

That season, I went on to play 64 games tallying 24 goals and 30 assists in my rookie year. The Blackhawks went 40-34-8. I'm kinda sad my rookie year is over but I can't wait to see what the rest of my career has in store, and to spend it with my beautiful girlfriend Kallie, makes it so much more exciting.
