ローズ
I met her during the winter of my discontent. It was during the winter where the weather decimated the streets of our city, yet blanketed it with the white sheets of snow. It was on the day where the snow finally stopped, and the glistening sun shimmered into the streets of the city. It was then where I met Rose, who had her head down and was sitting at the doorsteps of the closed library that seemed to serve as both of our destination. From there, Rose looked me in the eyes, and almost instantly I decided that this was the girl I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. This is the story of love, loneliness, and other delusions, and how a Rose became wilted by the sunlight.
They liked to call Rose old-fashioned. To me, she wasn't that, rather she saw the joy in the more adventurous and open things. What the people at our high school saw in partying and getting drunk after our football team won a game was completely ignored by Rose. Instead, she found joy and amusement in going to retro diners, taking photos at the library, and knocking on my door at midnight to climb the roof and gaze at the stars that always seemed so distant. Most importantly, Rose never allowed for either of us to bring our phones when we went out. All photos were to be taken by a Polaroid or digital camera, and all phone calls were to be made by the phone booths where the glass surrounding the phone was as cold as ice, and a tiny knock on the glass would completely shatter it. Rose didn't like it when people publicized everything because she always lived in the moment, and whenever I was with her, I too was able to live in the moment. I just wish the moment could have lasted longer.
Thank you for getting this far. I'll try my best to update this often.
