Lyon Hamilton and Juvia Schuyler-Hamilton have seen it all. They fell in love, they've gone through war, Juvia had her heart broken, and they were both destroyed by the death of their son, Freed. But they hadn't left each other's side.

Both were surprised. Lyon was shocked Juvia hadn't left him yet. And she was surprised she hadn't walked out with the children. But they both knew deep down why they stayed.

Not only for their children, but because they still loved each other. They were still deeply in love and their connection couldn't be broken. Nothing could tear them apart. Or so they thought.

Juvia slowly opened her sea blue eyes and turned in bed to look at Lyon next to her, but he wasn't there. She sat up and rubbed her eyes, letting her blue hair fall on her shoulders. She looked around and saw a soft light coming from the hallway.

She swung her feet over the edge and set them on the ground. She grabbed her blue robe and drapped it over her white nightgown. She slowly stood up from the bed and gave a tired yawn. First she looked into the crib in their room. It held their youngest, two year old Freed Jr. It had been their son, Romeo's idea and they liked it. He was fast asleep, so she smiled. She then walked into the hallway and saw the light was coming from Lyon's study.

She walked to the door and gave a small smile, sure enough, seeing Lyon sitting at his desk. Several candles were lit as he scribbled away with his pen on paper, his glasses resting on the bridge of his nose. She leaned against the door and watched him for a while with a gentle smile before speaking up.

"Lyon, come back to sleep." She said, loud enough for him to hear her, but quiet enough so she didn't wake her sister, Angelica and her son John, who're in the next room.

Lyon was startled by his wife's voice, despite it being as soft as a feather. He turned to her and his charcoal eyes gave a sparkle. But he also had an unreadable look in his eyes. Not even Juvia could read it and she'd been married to the man for 24 years. "I have an early meeting out of town." He stated, setting his pen down for a moment to rest his hand.

Juvia gave that signature look that said, 'You're kidding me, right'? "It's still dark outside." She said, gesturing to the window as she took a couple steps into the study.

"I know. I just need to write something down." He picked up his pen again and started writing once more.

"Why do you write like you're running out of time?" She asked gently as she walked over to him. She wrapped her arms around him from behind and nuzzled his white hair.

"Shhh..." He shushed her, but smiled. He thought she was being adorable.

"Come back to bed. That would be enough." She mumbled into his hair, loving this warmth.

"I'll be back before you know I'm gone." He promised her, smiling as he began to finish what he was writing.

'Come back to sleep." She begged, trying one more time to get him back to bed with her.

"This meeting's at dawn." He said softly, looking up at her.

Juvia sighed. It'd been worth a try. "Well, I'm going back to sleep." She said, letting go of him. She turned to walk out of the study and back to the room.

"Hey." He said, suddenly standing up. He grabbed her hand to stop her as he looked at the ground. She stopped and turned to face him, perplexed. He then looked up at her and gave her the charming look she fell in love with. "Best of wives and best of women." He pulled her close and kissed her on the lips.

After a moment, they pulled away and smiled at each other. Little did she know, that was the last time she would be able to feel his warmth.

"Good night, Lyon." She said softly, walking back to her room. Lyon smiled as she left, but it slowly faded as she was gone.
