(**Gore Warning**
Also wrote this at school, sorry if it isn't that good >[]<)"Ah, Koume you're here." My boss greeted me as I stood in the doorway of the room. It was fairly large, with a tall ceiling. The room itself was painted a light coffee colour, only being illuminated by the flickering lights of lit candles. The room had a sweet aroma to it, like a coconut vanilla scent, sweet enough to make your mouth water.
My boss was an elder Aerae demon, named Meric. He was the leader of my work and I was his second hand, the second highest position in this entire place. He had greyish eyes, half and half with mixtures of purple and green. Our species was normally this colourful, but his eyes were truly extraordinary.
His hair was at shoulder length, falling down in black loose curls. Intimidating to most, a friend to others. Aside from Meric's job and my own, There was also two others working with us.
Ceres and Nereus. The twins in our facility. Both with hair that was a mixture of a lavender purple and a light baby blue, one falling down a bit longer than the other's, their eyes both a grey shade with a shadowy hue in them.
There were other positions, but much lower than the first four. THEY weren't allowed in the room, Meric mentioned before that they 'weren't qualified enough.'
I worked with nice people, we mostly all got along, though nobody really HATED each other.
We were the government, the leaders of our beautiful world. We made everything pretty. The sky, the land, the structures... Everything.
"Hullo hullo, Meric, Nereus, Ceres." I greeted back as I stepped into the room, closing the door behind me. It automatically locked, the sound of three large clicks filling my ears. We had to keep the room locked, nobody but us allowed here.
As I stepped up to the high-legged table and spread my wings, I quickly drifted upwards, landing smoothly on my tall chair. We had these types of 'fancy' chairs, which were decorated with comfortable cushions and decorations in the wood, but the main thing that stuck out the most was that the legs of the furniture, as they stretched up taller than any bar-stool. They were about 15 feet in the air, unable to be reached unless the use of an Aerae's wings. (Which every one was born with).
I twitched softly as I rested back and relaxed in my throne- or so everyone called them, eyes landing on the others. I was the only one with white tipped feathers, the rest of my wings a soft dark black. Meric had reddish wings, like a dark coloured copper with black tipped feathers. Ceres and Nereus had very light rose wings, little triangle patterns in white decorated on the ends of them.
Wings were so beautiful, so lovely. We were a beautiful species, much more smart and lovable than the others on the other Layers. The most talented, the most loyal. We weren't selfish like the other demon species, we didn't cause wars for no reason, we always had things written down and we always had plans.
For some reason, every time I had gone into the ÆTĖR room, my head would start to ache, and I'd feel a very faint nausea feeling. I had been to the hospital a few times in the last for weekly visits, but the doctor said I had the start of Šæœż syndrome (Aerae Demon disease only), which was a sickness that had no cure. Technically, it wasn't that bad. I had found out that candle scents help with with the nausea and headache, so now Meric always keeps one in the room. Plus, symptoms didn't barely show, or maybe I just didn't notice them.
I listened to the others as they spoke their ideas, the next biggest thing for our world! We were going to make mountains shine Ceres commented, Nereus applauding happily as he noted a few other things that could be fixed up. We were the Lords, our people loved us, welcomed us with open arms and happy smiles.
Suddenly, out of nowhere, I heard a strange pop noise. It sounded mechanical, like a hinge or a click of a button. Then the world blurred all around me.
I didn't panic or fight it, not like I had a huge window of opportunity as the feeling already consumed me, dragging me under. And when everything went back to normal and I reopened my eyes, the other three were staring at me, looking completely unfazed of what just happened.
Every surrounding had changed. The walls were dark, painted a black and dark blood red, scribbled patterns in black all over. The smell of vanilla coconut had disappeared completely, now replaced with a very strong and foul odour of coppery blood and rotting flesh.
Blinking a few times to come back into focus I could see the table. There were playing cards in front of each of us, faced down. In the centre of the table there was a large plate, holding the contents of what looked like a human, chopped up into small pieces.
"Oh, how can the other species ingest that... disgusting soul energy? From the humans? It'll never make sense to me..." Nereus sighed, picking up one of the cut off fingers, chewing on it and gently tugging tiny bits of flesh off with his teeth. My eyes narrowed as my stomach growled, making me automatically reach forward and snag one.
"Now That you're back, Koume, we can continue with our TRUE plans." Meric grinned his sharp-toothed smile, eyes flashing creepily as he shuffled around the cards. "I'm thinking of fun, fun things. What shall we do today?"
Yes... The true plans. What we're hiding from the outside world, only us four know, the secrets locked up tight in our minds.
The 'other'... pure me is unaware of this. He is in an imaginary escape, fooled right in front of his eyes. And he WON'T know...
Our building has specifically designed a product for me. Burned into my flesh and worn over with magic to just leave a scar, a metal chip was placed in my neck, preventing me from... Remembering the critical details of what happened in this room.
Of course, side effects are common, that's why they couldn't have pure me become suspicious, so they had mind-controlled doctors with a spell, to have them think that my body is 'sick.'
Our plans, are crucial. Our future, is prime.
We'll make our future beautiful. And when I'm back in my normal, pure form...
He won't remember a thing.
