trigger warning.

Billie knew what he was coming home to.

A drunk mother, yelling at him, younger brothers and sisters crying in fear.

School was almost out, today Billie decided to go. It was a Wednesday.

All of his buddies were probably ditching, since they weren't there.

His school ended at three and it was two fifty.

"-and we have ten minutes, finish your assignment and then you can leave."

Billie walked out of the class, going to the back of the school where his friends were waiting.

"Home?" The curly haired boy asked, revving the car up.

"Yeah." Billie replied, sitting in the front seat.

They arrived and Billie waved as they left.

He sighed and unlocked the door.

"Bee-" his younger brother ran up to him.

"What's up, David?"

"Mommy's bad again."

"Damn it." He muttered under his voice and told David to go upstairs.

Billie walked to the living room, and like always, the floor was littered with glass and bottles.

"Ma?" He said, cringing because he didn't feel like he can call a person like her 'mom'.

"Billie?" His mother croaked. She threw the bottle against the wall.

Billie's heart dropped and his anxiety took the best of him.

He tried to speak up, but only a squeak is what he managed to get out.

"I-i'm h-home.."

Ollie got up from the floor, stumbling towards her son.

"Why- why- why are you late?" She slurred, laying her index finger on Billie's chest.

"I-i'm not l-late m-mom, it's three o eight." Billie didn't look Ollie in the eye.

"You- y- talkin' b-back?" She raised her voice.

"No, m-ma'am."

She pushed him, and Billie sniffled.

David was watching from the top of the stairs.

"M-Mommy!"

The younger boy started running down the stairs and Billie rushed to the stairs.

"Davey go upstairs, please."

"No." The younger boy shook his head.

Then, Ollie chucked her bottle at Billie.

"MOMMY!!" David shrieked our of sheer terror.

Billie was on the floor, a whole armful of glass shards.

His blood stained the carpet.

"Mom p-please-."

"Y-you c-can't do s-shit r-right!"

"Momma I'm sorry-."

David was sobbing, holding the stair railing.

"S-shut t-the f-uck-."

Ollie turned to David.

David cried louder and Billie jumped up.

"Leave him alone."

She stumbled towards the kid, and Billie shoved her out of the way.

He picked the boy up and ran upstairs.

"Guys, come on. Put your clothes in my bag."

Billie locked the door behind them and started packing a duffel bag with his sibling's clothes.

"Marci, Hollie, Anna, Alan, and David. We're going away to Mike's house for a little bit while Mommy gets better okay?"

The girls nodded and the boys grabbed their GI JOES.

Billie opened the door and began down the stairs, the kids behind him.

Ollie was sitting on the floor, sobbing.

"Wait outside for me okay?"

The kids went outside.

Billie kneeled In front of His mother and put his bloody, glass infested hands on her shoulders.

"Momma. Momma I'm taking the kids with me. I love you so much mom.  I'll see you later. The kids will be fine with me."

Ollie wiped her eyes and Billie stepped out, closing the door behind him.
