Chapter 5: Use This Smoke

I took two more steps everyone looked back at me. I was not sure what to do gun shots in the background and now I have some strange things going on with me and I was angry, just angry. So I had to make a move. Clear my mind, as we can’t just wait in the open. “Let’s go we should start going towards town we can meet up with people and sort this out” I said as I clenched the knife and walked towards Abbie. “Here take this just in case, but try not to shoot as its loaded and we don’t have a lot of bullets” Abbie took the gun from me and kept it with both hands, she looked like she knows what to do.

 

                                                                         As I started to jog down the road everyone started to follow, Kyle took the bag off of Abbie so it made it easier for her. We started to pass people stuffing random things in their bags and cars. The odd dead body on the ground only seamed to affect a few. But the lower down we got there were less people and more of them walking around or eating. Screams coming from different directions. Then we just noticed 3 people running past. With the same school uniform as us! A dead jumped on one pushing a tall blond guy to the floor. We rushed in. I rolled hacking the leg of a zombie with the climbing axe it fell to which Emily followed through with a stab to its head but still hitting a second dead with the upswing. Katy and Kyle stayed just away with Abbie making sure a couple of following undead don’t join in. But it was now my turn I leaped slashing a middle aged zombie lady’s face with my other arm pulling down a zombie kneeing on the floor I hacked at its head. One tried to grab me I rolled again back to my feet I put the climbing axe it to its head. “DAM! Its stuck” I let go. Just in time to pillar my knife into the last one of them.

 

“Peter! No!” Katy screamed as she ran past me. I looked around, the boy on the floor was a guy from Katy’s maths class I had seen him before but I did not really know him. Other then he would hang out with Katy’s old boyfriend and her friends. It took me a moment but then I noticed it his arm had a large chunk missing. He’d been bitten. Katy got down to her knees and started talking to him we stepped back to give them some space for their last words. “Hey dumbass why did we even come this way” Kyle looked at me.

“I don’t know, we just might have found someone who could of helped or somewhere to hold up.” I replied.

“Well the idea is not stupid but now we have to deal with him and that girl is going to be emotional when he turns and kills one of us” Kyle spoke to me again.

“I agree” Emily stepped over to us cleaning a bit of blood off her hands with a random cloth she started to put it to my face, hesitated. Crap I forgot I still had smoke coming from my eyes and hands, I looked down. My hands shaking I dropped the knife and climbing axe. She picked up my head raising it to her height. She wiped the blood of my face ignoring the smoke “Look we are doing ok so far we can fight small groups of them but we need some were to sleep and eat for the night or we will lose energy and can’t fight.”

“YH! I know the best place to go its close and easy to protect” Kyle yelled

“Then we should go fast as it will be dark in an hour” Katy stood up wiping so tears from her eyes.

“Don’t worry I… I got you covered just go ok” Peter said as he spits up a bit of blood. He holds up his hand. It has a ball like shape it could see it clearly it was dark grey with a metal wire sticking out. I could smell it from all the way over here and over the blood it smelt like a chemical smell. I was not sure what it was but we did need to move.

“Well then Kyle show us the way.” I replied to everyone. I turned and looked back at peter lying on the floor in a puddle of blood surrounded by corpses and more start walking towards him.
