Rainy days

| JIEUN POV |
    It's raining as usual.
I didn't mind it though, I loved the rain.
I had loved the rain because to what it seems, we were both lonely.
I was empathetic for the rain sharing my same personality, empty and lonely.

I went to look outside the window to be by the sky's side. Suddenly the door opened slamming against the wall to get my attention to turn to it. It was my mom, it had been a month since I've seen her since she was always on business trips, like they've always said in stories. My dad had left us every since I was little, taking our family's money with him, so after that my mom would always work on business trips, while I just did some part-time jobs and selling commissions online with my art. The situation made us fall apart.

She put her umbrella down then turned her eyes to me as she noticed I was there.
"Oh, you're looking out the window, again." She said, not surprised. I just nodded at her, turning my attention back to the pale sky.
"You should be studying, not just to be someone successful, but to be accepted as part of this family." She said in an annoyed tone. "All you do is look at the sky, being dumbfounded by its emptiness, how useless." She added. I stayed silent at that moment with my eyes still fixated on the empty sky.

She sighed, "Anyways, I'm going on another business trip to the United States this time, so don't expect me to come here until a while, I just came back home to get my other set of files." Once she did, she just slammed the door back and went into a car that had a guy sitting at the driver's seat. I watch them fade away from my sight then changing my attention back to the sky where it seemed like it was raining forever.

I watch the people passing by the sidewalk as hours pass. All of them were with someone. Whether it was their child, guardian, or companion. They always had someone with them. They were the same people I would see everyday passing by to go to the store nearby.

Though there was one guy who was always alone as he walked to the store.
He seemed about my age and was someone familiar, but I couldn't tell, probably someone from school. I just wondered sometimes, was he always lonely like me? Did he have someone by his side unlike me?  I didn't know, but it wasn't like I should know anyways. Seems like he wouldn't be passing by today though.

I was just procrastinating and stressing as time passed by, so I grabbed the pack that had been sitting in my pocket for quite a while. I took one stick out and put it into my mouth , still holding it.

I closed my eyes trying to relax when suddenly I was cut off
"Hey, you shouldn't be smoking you know, it kills you." They said said in a concerned tone.
I slowly opened my eyes to see it was the guy who would usually pass by alone, to go to the store.
