You rushed in through your front door and skipped to the kitchen.
"You sure are perky today! How was school, y/n?" your mother asks you with a smile.
"It was positively far out!" You exclaim, dropping your book bag and slipping out of your shoes. Your mother skeptically watches you, and continues to cut up apples. "Uh, would it be okay if I go across the street to have dinner with the Brady's tonight?" You ask with puppy dog eyes.
"Of course! Did you meet their oldest son? He's in your grade, right?" she questions.
"Oh yes, I met him. He is totally groovy," you say, sighing happily. You look up at the clock on the wall, and realize you only have thirty minutes to get ready! "I'll be back, I have to go get ready!" you say, running up the stairs.
     "Oh, y/n," your mother laughs.
-
At 6:29, you were out the door, carrying a bouquet of daisies you picked from your mothers garden. You had chose to wear a groovy floral dress with a white turtleneck under it, some white stockings, and a pair of black flats. You arrived at their front door, took a deep breath, and knocked 2 times.
"Ah, you must be y/n!" an older woman in a blue uniform greets you. She motions for you to come inside, and you hand her the flowers. "These are absolutely lovely! I'll see where Mrs. Brady wants to put them. I'm Alice," she says, leading you towards the kitchen.
"Y/n!" Greg says as you enter the kitchen. "Woah..." he says, with his mouth wide open, "you look far out." You blush and smile at him.
"So do you, of course," you say, looking at your feet. Faster than lightning, two younger boys and a little girl come blasting through the kitchen, each one chasing each other.
"Cindy! Bobby! Peter! Stop running around and come introduce yourself to our guest," a woman says, entering the kitchen with a roll of her eyes and a friendly smile. "I'm Mrs. Brady," she says, holding out her hand for you to shake.
You take her hand and smile back, understanding now what Greg said about his siblings. The three runners reentered the kitchen, gasping for breath.
"I'm Cindy!" the little girl says with a slight lisp, holding one of her braids nervously.
"I'm Peter, and this is Bobby," says the tallest out of the two boys, motioning to his younger brother.
"It's great to meet you," you say in a friendly voice. The peace of the moment is once again interrupted when a blonde girl who looks about a year younger than you stomps into the kitchen.
"MOM! Jan took a pair of MY white socks AGAIN!" she exclaims, crossing her arms. Mrs. Brady tries to reason with the girl, and eventually dismisses her from the conversation.
"I'm y/n," you say to the girl, straightening your dress.
"I'm Marcia, it's nice to meet a fellow girl with good style!" she says back to you, looking at your dress. "I'll be back in a minute, my stupid sister is trying to steal my socks!" Marcia huffs, exiting the kitchen. With that, you walk back over to Greg and smile at him.
"They're all so great, you're lucky to have such a big family!" you put forth. Greg scoffs, and smiles goofily.
"This has gone a lot better than I thought it would-so far," Greg adds. Finally, another blonde girl, a bit younger looking than Marcia enters the kitchen. She goes over to her mother, and makes an argument, most likely about the socks. She shrugs, and walks towards you.
"I'm Jan. Super dress," she says, waving at you.
"It's nice to meet you Jan, I'm y/n," you say, grinning. You chatted with the Brady's a bit in the living room, answering and exchanging questions.
"Mrs. Brady, could you come help me with the apple sauce?" Alice calls from inside the kitchen. Mrs. Brady excuses herself and Mr. Brady follows after her.
"Soooo, do you have a crush on Greg?" Cindy whispers loudly in your ear. You and Greg both blush, laughing awkwardly.
"Ugh, Cindy. You don't understand a single thing about love. And besides, you can't just ask if y/n likes Greg. That is so not cool," Marcia says, pointing her finger at Cindy.
"I have an idea! Let's give them some alone time, she is Greg's guest," Marcia says, standing up from the couch. She motions all of her siblings out of the room and out the door, leading them to the backyard.
Greg breaks the silence. "So, about that whole crush thing..." he says, with that same goofy smile. You blush beet red.
"I really like you, Greg," you say softly, taking his hand. You move closer to each other.
"I really like you too, y/n," Greg says, in a slight whisper. You're both leaning in when...
"KIDS! Dinner's ready! Last one in the kitchens a rotten pork chop!" Alice shouts. So much for a special moment alone with Greg.
