You had a terribly difficult time attempting to fall asleep that night- the thought of your first date with Greg Brady consumed all of your thoughts! You had never been on a date before, but you had a strong feeling that this one was going to be extremely special. Even though you knew Greg was digging your vibe, what would happen if you messed something up? If you tried to say something groovy, but it just came out as dull? What if you accidentally spilled a milkshake on your dress? These were all extremely possible scenarios that could present themselves to you tomorrow if you didn't prepare yourself! Well, I don't want to go to my mom for help, that would be so incredibly drab, you thought to yourself, staring up at your Elvis poster you had taped to your ceiling. You pondered options on the best plan of action on how to avoid embarrassing yourself on your date with Greg. Maybe I could try to talk to Noreen about it? You considered the help of the kind bandana girl you had met in the lunch room earlier. On second thought, she doesn't seem like a huge dater. Ugh, I'm positively stumped. This date could make or break my chances with the cutest guy at Westdale! Suddenly, a genius idea popped into your head: maybe I could go to Marcia for help! She is Greg's sister after all, and she really seems like she knows what she's talking about, fashion wise. I bet she's had loads of boyfriends and could give me stellar advice! You smile to yourself, proud of the plan you were formulating. Finally, you drifted off to sleep, thinking of Greg's beautiful blue eyes. You woke up the next morning to the smell of bacon and eggs.
"Y/N! Wake up and start getting ready for school, you don't want to be late on your second day!" your mother shouted from downstairs in the kitchen. You groggily rose from your bed, rubbing the tiredness out of your eyes- and then you realized. TODAY WAS THE DAY! You jumped up and put on your white bunny slippers, racing down the stairs with a wide smile on your face.
"Somebody's excited for breakfast," your father says playfully, glancing over the morning paper. You grab a heaping plate of eggs and bacon and began eating at the speed of lightning- the first step to getting this date to be perfect is an out-of-this-world outfit at school. "My previous statement stands correct, what are you in such a hurry for kiddo? You've got plenty of time before the bus comes," your dad takes a sip of his coffee and raises an eyebrow at your odd behavior.
"I have to make sure I dress to impress today," you respond, wiping crumbs off your face with your napkin. You stand up in a hurry, taking your plate to the sink. You manage to give your mom a quick kiss on the cheek before you hustle back up the stairs. "Thanks for breakfast mom!" you yell behind you. Alright Y/N, think, what can I wear today to grab Greg's attention even before we're on our date? You shuffle through the assortment of jumpers and dresses hung up in your closet, without anything really grabbing your eye. That is, until you come across something you completely forgot you owned. It was sure to catch Greg's eye, as well as the rest of your schoolmates. After all, it was only your second day- you still wanted to establish yourself as an approachable, groovy young lady. You took it down off the hanger holding it to your heart. Today was going to be perfect.
Since it was still August in California, you decided on just the top half of the two piece set, paired with a frilly collared shirt just like the girl you had on in the catalogue you had seen. You brushed out your long hair and decided to tie it into a low pony with a matching yellow ribbon. Sneaking into your mother and father's bathroom, you decided to "borrow" some of your mother's makeup, specifically her lip gloss and a mascara you knew she didn't use. She didn't think you were old enough for makeup yet, so you would have to avoid seeing her before you walked out the door later. Looking at yourself in the mirror, you smile. Now, all I have to do is make it over to the Brady's without running into my mom or Greg so I can talk with Marcia about the best way to go about this date tonight! You thought to yourself, starting to regain some of the jitters you had last night. Don't sweat it, everything is going to be a-ok. You put on your favorite summer sandals and grab your bookbag from the front room, making sure the coast is clear of your parents.
"Bye Mom! Bye Dad! I'll see you after school!" You call out, quickly stepping out the front door as you let out a sigh of relief. To your positive surprise, Marcia is out in front of the Brady house all by herself! This is your chance to get some great advice. You check both ways before crossing the street and calling out for Marcia to gain her attention.
"Oh hey Y/N! Super outfit once again, you really know how to dress!" Marcia complimented, combing her fingers through her long blonde hair. You thank her for the compliment and return one to her, looking around to make sure none of the other Brady siblings are around to hear our conversation.
"So Marcia," you start, the two of you beginning to walk towards the bus stop together, "Greg asked me on a date tonight, and I was wondering if you could give me any advice on how to go about it? I've truthfully never been on a date before," you blush, pushing a loose strand of hair behind your ear.
"Greg. As in MY brother asked YOU on a date? Y/N, I was surprised when you, a super cool and pretty girl, came over for dinner at Greg's invitation last night, but I honestly thought you were just doing it to be nice," she lets out a small laugh. "But yes, if you're looking for dating advice, you've come to the right place. My first piece of advice, you're WAY out of Greg's league." You raised an eyebrow at Marcia. This was going to be the longest bus ride EVER.
